NewEgg deal on a Quad Core AMD desktop.. really good!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.577250

Save $71.95 when purchased together

1. Raidmax ATX-238WRP :$59.99
2. MSI 785GT-E63 :$84.99
3. AMD HDX920XCGIBOX :$119.99
4. Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2/2G :$46.99
5. Seagate ST31000528AS :$69.99
6. LG ELECTRONICS GH24LS50 :$19.99

* Combined Total:$401.94
* Combo Discounts:-$71.95
* Combo Price: 329.99 - mail in rebate

That's a quad core processor, 2G Ram, 1TB hard drive, case with power supply, motherboard and a CD ROM drive. Sure.. you have to put it together and add an OEM Windows 7 license, but still a great deal

Happy Holidays!

Brad

Looks decent but I'd definitely upgrade the memory. 2 GB at 64 bit is almost like having 1 GB on a 32 bit OS. It has to do with the way memory is allocated and used. It's a bit lean. 4 GB minimum, 8 GB much better!

It's amazing...
My first "real" computer I got in 1998. Al4a and I went to Circuit City and got the most powerful PC's they had for our office. HP's with Pentium 3 800 Mhz processors and 256KB of ram

We were like: "Wow! This shit is smoking fast!" And they cost over $3,000 each. We were so impressed that you could actually burn a CD on them. lol

Amazing how far things have come in such a short time.

And it would have too! There weren't many files back then of any real size for the average consumer to have or ever use.

I think it was back around 2000 that engineers said we had reached the limits of hard drive capacity. I think our hp's had 80 gig hard drives and that was HUGE.

And then like a year later I read this scientific report that Israeli scientist had figured out a way to put more data on hard drives and now the sky was the limit. lol

I always figured there must have been a UFO crash right about then and some reverse engineering going on to figure it out. heh-heh
