4% of deaths worldwide directly attributable to alcohol consumption seems high in a made up sounding way.

sorry but marijuana related deaths are also all the (driving etc) accidents etc caused by people who got stoned..most people who die by alcohol die by other accidents while they are drunk and not alcohol poisoning..you make accident while stoned or drunk - same shit! So marijuana has its share of deaths.Or atop counting alcohol RELATEd death and only count death directly caused by alcohol..

similar is with cancer and marijuana - nicotine also doesn't cause cancer itself but we all know how many people get cancer due to heavy cigarette smoking...similar is with marijuana and smoking (i dont know in usa but in many countries they mix it with tobacco).

also deaths are not really the only factor to consider - wasted, ruined life (drug abuser & family etc) is far worse.SURe there are much more lives ruined by alcohol but i have seen my share of potheads who ruined their life and their friends by being stoned most of their days. like it or not it ruins lives too..

and before someone jumps one me - i am all for at least decriminalization ,if not legalization, of marijuana...

theres no proof any car accident was caused by someone being impaired by marijuana , probably because marijuana doesn't effect your motor skills the same way alcohol does. Undoubtedly there has been a few marijuana related car accidents, but not even comparable to alcohol.

its not the nicotine in cigs that cause cancer , its the additives, as far as marijuana , read the stats, you are comparing apples to oranges.

Basically what you said was , people die from smoking therefor they must also die from marijuana even though there is no evidence to suggest this.

People die from drinking alcohol , doesnt mean drinking milk has the same risks.

religion , politics and many other things cause "ruined lives" , none on a comparable level to alcohol, certainly not weed.

You can do too much of anything and it will likely be bad for you, the overall point is marijuana isn't high on the list of things that will ruin your life by trying it

Alcohol is way worse than Marijuana. I think the main reasons being, how much more drunk and destructive people can get then high. If you smoke too much weed and are "too" high people are usually paranoid etc, not a good situation to be driving in for sure, but other than that its not too bad.

Alcohol also lasts way longer than marijuana if you get real drunk for example.

There is no reason marijuana should be illegal anymore. Tax it like cigs and alcohol and move on to the next issue.

interesting stuff, but you'll hear both sides state why marijuana should be and not be legal.

personally, I'm all for legalization. id rather see some teens sit around smoking a blunt then drinking a case of miller light and going for a joy ride in moms minivan

sure, not as many as alchochol at all! Again , the things that bothered me is that when listing alchochol related deaths list always counts death caused by out stupid behaviour while drunk while for marijuana people always say "zero deaths", ignoring accidents%deaths caused by being stoned.Apples and oranges.

no, what i said is that not everyone smokes pure marijuana.maybe in usa but in other countries they mix it with tobacco&additives so smoking this mix also causes cancer. So fair comparison is pure nicotine death and pure marijuana death OR smoking cigarettes and smoking (not pure) pot.

agreed and once again, what bothers me is that marijuana smokers present it like absolutely no harm, no deaths, no lives ruined thing ...it is just not true...it is far less devastating than alcohol but it is no way harmless like pro.activists are portraying it...

I have experienced both first hand as a user and as someone who deals with people doing both. Trust me, the marijuana is a far better choice all the way around. I have yet to see drinking being prescribed as any health benefit, but you see it with marijuana more and more.

Having been raised by a raging drunk, I can tell you this much.. I see absolutely ZERO benefit from drinking whatsoever, it's just bad from the first drink.

I used to bet people that were heavy drinkers that I'd come in contact with:

WHO the hell drinks like that, one right after another until you can't stand up? I want to see you drink a case of cokes the same way and have zero effects from it. If you can drink a case of cokes that fast and not have any buzz at all, I'll personally buy your next case of beer...... NOT one would take me up on it. lol

There are always people that do it with reason, but for the most part, from what I have seen, they don't have any rationality about them at all, it's either none or case after case after case..... why would someone WANT to not be in control like that? I just don't get it.

I've yet to ever see someone not being in at least some control while they are stoned.. not one time. lol

yes i second that, i'm a frequent cannabis user and i dont act like an activist, sadly theres a big part of stoners that ruin legalization by their lifestyle, people that wants this legalized but wont contribute to anything in the country they're located

More pothead propaganda. Of course they aren't studies or statistics correlating marijuana to death and cancer like there is for alcohol. Alcoholism is a disease, and yes it's worse for you. When someone dies from an alcohol related disease it's easy to correlate the source.

Here is my rant to those who think smoking weed is healthy, because "no one died from it".

When someone dies of lung cancer who's been smoking weed for 10 years, no doctor correlates the source. Inhaling marijuana in-general deteriorates your health in many aspects, but no doctor is going to say his official death was from smoking weed. When someone inhales carbon dioxide for 10 years and dies of a heart attack, again, no one correlates it to weed although it could have been the primary cause.

Don't let these "statistics" cloud your judgment. Don't let hearsay cloud your judgment either, I had a grandparent who smoked cigarettes and drank everyday of his life and lived to be 81. That doesn't mean you will.

Here are the FACTS about marijuana. Not opinions of whether they are bad or good for you, just factual data of what it contains and it's basic effect.

Increased heart rate, lowered blood pressure. Smoke a bowl then check your pulse and blood pressure.

Marijuana SMOKE contains 3 times as much tar as a cigarette. Yeah, that thick black sticky resin that accumulates in your bowl didn't fall from the sky.

Marijuana smoke contains carbon dioxide.

Those are the FACTS, I'm not going to go into studies, or hearsay. Nothing will kill you in moderation, but if you smoke all day, everyday and think it's "healthy" you're in for a wake up call.

In 10-15 years you'll wake up an anti-social, delusional, paranoid, out-of-shape parasite who can't run a block without gasping for air. Oh yeah, I still see buddies of mine that never quit smoking weed after high school. They're losers. Every single one of them. There is a little propaganda for you.

If you factor in alcohol related vehicular accidents, alcohol-fueled murders, plus alcohol related diseases etc it kinda makes sense.

When someone inhales carbon monoxide for 10 years and dies of a heart attack, again, no one correlates it to weed although it could have been the primary cause.

Marijuana smoke contains carbon monoxide.

Those are the FACTS, I'm not going to go into studies, or hearsay. Nothing will kill you in moderation, but if you smoke all day, everyday and think it's "healthy" you're in for a wake up call.

WTF is wrong with me.. I said carbon dioxide twice, what I meant was CARBON MONOXIDE!

Seeing as how no one has ever died from smoking too much weed, I'm wondering how they calculated the fatal dosage.

Right. So no musicians, doctors, psychologists, athletes, teachers smoke weed?

If you're a loser, it's not weed's fault.

There aren't any.

It's virtually impossible to overdose on MJ(IIRC, takes something like 1000 lbs? I'd have to look.. but it's retarded high.. pun intended), and since it mostly helps with cancer... wellllllllllll

I'm sure there are some where a kid smoked an ounce and ran his car off of a cliff, but I'd attribute that to stupidity.
