Who here is not "In the Industry"

Just curious as to whether there many lurkers or regular posters on this board who are not in the online porn industry. I was in the industry. I've worked with some folks on this board, including some of the "legends" that are mentioned in the "where are they now" or "these guys were instrumental to online porn" threads. Those days are basically gone (i.e., I went mainstream lol), but I still lurk and post because I find GFY to be thoroughly entertaining (and the pics aren't bad as well).

Soooo......are there a ton of non-industry folks on this board? Proudly proclaim your mainstream status!

I'm not in the industry, although I have had a couple of plans but didn't get around to implementing them.

Honestly for me it's research to find out if it's worth the time and effort to get involved in this as side business. Everything that makes money usually also takes knowledge, investment and hard work. Jumping into anything expecting that 1. It's garanteed to make money and 2. anybody can do it, is a sure way to waste a lot of time, money and motivation. So far it's honestly a toss up, there may be money to be made, but it also might not be worth bothering. The jury is still out on it.

Honestly unless you have a lot of money to either pay for someone knowledgeable to assist you or to waste some money and time learning it's wiser to stay out. The other exception would be if you have nothing better to do, badly want to work in adult, and have a lot of free time with no immediate need for profit. There's money still out here if you're smart and know what you're doing. There's even more money available if you have the funds to invest (but you also need some knowledge so you don't lose your shirt). However, at the lower rungs of the industry it's almost surely a losing proposition to make an entry into the industry unless you're some freak exception with a killer idea or advantage no one else has.

I know the above sounds pessimistic considering I still make a 1000% profit for every dollar I invest in the business (as do many others I'm sure) but again you need knowledge and experience to do that.

I'm not -- yet.

I've been developing an adult project for quite a while(graphic novel/animation), but my mainstream work is paying my bills(and taking all my time). My heart is in my smut project, for sure. I just need to find the balls to step out of my safety zone and get it off the ground.

Not to be a smart ass but then you put it to work. If you have experience and knowledge then it shouldn't be a problem. You should know of a few openings already. Even if I told you of some it'd be unlikely it'd help you much because you wouldn't know all the needed details of how to implement it. For instance if I told you of a micro niche which does very well what would that do for you if you did not understand how to convert it or where to get good traffic for it? Nothing. You'd probably just end up pissing away all your money unless you already know of it or are good at learning these things fast. In this example the average guy with the cash to invest would just try to hit up choker and buy the closest thing to the niche they could get. That ain't gonna work most of the time. See how it works?

I think there is a lot of WAS in the industry and looking to find a way back in, lurking on the boards. Like many I WAS working as a content creator, WAS working as a co-star with the pornstars, WAS creating websites to sell the material.

Then there WAS a recession and perhaps it IS a depression now that has really dried up the income streams from us startups that we need to continue to produce content. No new content, no members, no money.

Honestly, I wasn't trying to troll. I love the boards (trolls included, they are funny), and just wanted to get a sense of the demographics.

I can see myself in the future assisting those in the industry like I did in the past, but then I'll need to change my handle, otherwise, someone will probably say, "hey...aren't you that dude that said [insert embarrassing shit here]."
