Best Video File Format for iPhone and Smart Phones?

What is the best mobile video file format option for universal phone viewing?

.mp4
.m4v
.mov
H.264
MPEG-4

Any insight?

Thanks in advance!

BFT3K, I convert all my videos to MP4 format.

While we're on the subject of Smart phones, does anyone know why Droid X don't work with mp4 videos? I got some complaints by my members with Droid x but since I don't have one I can check it.

At the moment I am testing out a program called FLV Crunch to convert my hi-res WMVs to MP4s. I am using a MAC.

In some clips the conversion results are great, in others (using the same settings) there appears to be an odd color drop anomaly taking place.

As I do not have a smart phone I can only go by what I am seeing on my regular computer monitor.

Any thoughts?

Also, are there any Droid X users out there, that can answer Zorgman's question?

Thanks again!

Suggest the use a third party video player. ie. Rock Player (this one plays anything), YXPLayer, DoubleTwist

Are file sizes between 50 MBs and 150 MBs acceptable for mobile downloads?

Do most mobile devices deliver 30 FPS, or can you dummy this down to 15 or 20 FPS?

Is a 600 bit rate good for mobile, or can that be dummied down as well?

Any thoughts - experiences?

No one wants to download files that big on their phone with the way most data plans work.

Okay, this one is down to around 6.5 MBs p/minute.

Is it still too big for mobile?...

Good idea: take a video from one of the bigger mobile site players, run it through one of the analyzer programs, and you got it nailed for 99%
