"We are exercising our right to terminate your account."

So after many years of having multiple accounts with Chase bank, with zero problems (not using them to process adult), this is the notice I get.

We are exercising our right to terminate your account.

That's the only reason they will give. Fucking shit. That is my last account in the USA.

i am unsure why you have yet to extricate yourself entirely from any involvement in/with the u.s.

you complain about it so much and from every anglewouldn't you be a lot happier if you simply cut all ties?

Yea, that sort of blows for small checks that I get. Too small for wires, some programs don't use any card system, and checks are the best way. Lots of little checks add up.

Big payments I can get wires to foreign accounts, no problem. But I easily have $1000 - $2000 a month in little checks.

Grrrrrr. Really not wanting to fly back to the USA to open a new account somewhere. Cock suckers bought Wamu where I had my other account, and they are closing that one at the same time.

I think Nathan from Manwin is behind this. Nathan, did you get into the banking business?

i think u should be worried a bit.. banks just dont close accounts.. some type of fed/gov, etc is usually involved before the bank closes ur account.. plus before they close ur account they must'a filed dozens of SAR's

What about something like ING? I have an account with them, all done online. I know that I can send them a check, I'm not sure about third-party checks though so that is something you would need to look into.

I had the same thing happen with US Bank last month. No explanation, the branch manager told me she thought it could be for unusual activity in regards to receiving international wires, but that there really is no way to find out for sure from the risk department.

bullshit....

they could have closed his account because they didnt like the names of business on checks deposited, didnt like the places wires were coming from, didnt like the fact that all the account activity is coming from offshore, etc, etc...

banks close accounts all the time....

The person who made the decision to close your account probably does not even own a passport and would not be able to find Thailand on a map.

Na, it's not that. I'm straight with the feds.

I had 5/3 Bank in Ohio close an account out of the blue years ago.

It happens. Maybe they are not making enough money off of me. I don't keep a lot in there, but it is active.

Indeed.

What's funny is, I also had a Washington Mutual account as a 2nd US bank account and Chase bought them! Now both are getting closed.

Though, I didn't have a problem with Chase's service until they started buying everyone. That is when their customer service went to crap.

I have accounts out of the USA, but it is inconvenient to not have one in the USA. I'd rather not fly all the way back just to open a new account somewhere, but that is probably what I'm going to have to do.

I've had a few people suggest ING over the past few years. I may look into them.

Can you send wires online?

It's getting more and more difficult to do business internationally, everybody's got this "prove to us you're not laundering money" attitude.

It's one of the reasons I am moving back to the states.

My mortgage was sold three times and it ended up with Chase after the WaMu buyout.

That merger caused more issues and their customer service couldn't handle the transition of two banks into one. Their systems were all screwy so if you were a WaMu client then you had to talk to that side. However, if you called the WaMu side and they didn't pick up, it kicked over to the Chase side and they couldn't help with anything. Solution? Keep calling back until someone from WaMu answers. WTF?

Cluster fuck. Too big to fail my ass.

I had some issues when they merged. For some reason the Wama account became the main account in the system so when they would ask security questions on the phone, like where did you open your account, what year... it was a mess for a while. Took WAY too much time on the phone to clear that up. Skype dropping mid call, having to start all over.

It's painful now but in the long run I will be happy I'm out of that mess.

In theory, yes. But that is a crazy long process and then I would be bound to jumping through hoops to get a visa to enter many countries. A US passport is golden for travel. A Thai passport, not so much.

Not really planning on ever ditching the US passport. At least not as long as I have family still living there.

Banks try to get rid of accounts they don't make money off. That's just natural. When you open a new account make sure you get one with a monthly maintenance fee. This way you are safe and in most cases ATM and other fees go down a lot. You can also open a US account with large international banks from TH. Hit me up if you need help.

Suppose anything is possible, but I really don't have many ducks. I would think if it was IRS related they wouldn't be closing the account and would have sent me some sort of notice.

I pretty much conduct all my business overseas and really that account is for smaller checks. Maybe they are hunting small ducks. heh

Time will tell. But if you are right, I'll be sure to bump this and let you know.

a Us passport might be better than a thai one , but as far as travel goes to Asia / Europe it really is not "golden" I think

many countries have extra restrictions for US passport holders and also higher fees to process visas .. best passports are EU passports I think , and the very best UK passports .

MoneyGram cashes checks. Off course they take a cut. But for the instant cash they give I don't think it's that bad. No hassle, no bank, straight cash. Good for small checks.

They did the same thing to my account. I originally used WAMU too. No explanation as to why. I just figured it was the adult and the wires looked suspicious to them or something.

Try using, perkstreet.com

I process checks through ANZ Royal (just across the border from you), backed by a big Australian and New Zealand bank, they even clear them right away and I can use the ATM's in Thailand to withdraw when I am there. Might be worth checking out.

I've had my accounts canceled last year at Chase, and I had millions of dollars in them.

M&I canceled them as well, after I moved the money there (about two months after Chase canceled me).

Neither of them really gave a reason, but obviously figured out I was getting paid by adult companies.

Now at Wells Fargo Private Bank for the past year, and have had no issues.

Can you send wires online?
I honestly don't know offhand. I know that you can send wires, I don't know if you can do it online though. I only use checking and savings and it works pretty slick.

If you are making the trek back to the States primarily for your banking trouble, I would set up 2-3 accounts. That way if something happens you can just roll everything over into one of the other accounts. Another thing you can do is give power of attorney to a close family member, or even a lawyer, and they can handle this sort of thing for you in the future. I'm a little surprised you don't already have something like that in place... don't you still have some property here?

That's the only reason they will give. Fucking shit. That is my last account in the USA.
Bank accounts or checking accounts?

They were not interested in YoungAsianTrannies.com. No idea why. I think they feared the cross sales.

Ouch. I'd think they would be making a lot of money from a accounts like that. You're probably right about them finding out about adult.

Any idea what the process is for a non resident there to open an account?

I'd love to have a passport from the EU but that won't happen. I meant of the two options, USA vs Thai passport, the USA was golden.

To those asking, they did not freeze my funds. They are giving me 60 days to pull them out.

I have a chase business visa . They know I live in asia, and I put everything possible on that card to get the miles.

Recently, they seem to be really making an effort to make things difficult for me. I have never carried a balance and I never had problems with the card up until recently. They refused to mail me a new card here. I have no address in the USA anymore and in the past it was no problem. I had to fedex a document with my signature to them, they refused fax or email, also unusual.

I have a business here which requires some pretty expensive equipment and I always preferred to put it on the card to get the miles. A week ago I was declined for a $6k purchase which isn't unusual, usually can just call and let chase know whats up.

This time I was told that my account is under some risk assessment bs. I think they are getting wary of dealing with US citizens overseas.

This sucks for me, as I have not paid for a plane ticket in 5 years because of the card.

Since you're in Thailand, why not get setup in Hong Kong? Great for banking and company registration, these days having a HK address is just as good as America or Europe address, HK is fully supported by various processors such as PayPal, you can easily get a virtual office there, they'll cash the checks for you, and scan & e-mail all your mail for you, etc.

Plus it's just a quick flight from where you are.

A Thai passport is only good in Asia.
For US, EU, UK, and Australia a visa is needed. With a US/EU/UK passport you can get 30-60 days tourist visa on arrival in most Asian countries.

Why would anyone give up their citizenship for a Thai passport, DWB is crazy but I doubt he is that crazy
