Thanks dean Im shooting 2 scenes a day like this so Im doing the 1 light setup keeping it pretty basic. I also switched over to the Canon 5D from Nikon and I am loving it. Im not as happy with the autofocus but overall I am very happy with the quality.

The one thing that I dont like is the when you get the 5D out of the box the color settings are little off. My photos have a red tint to them where with my Nikon at 5600K the color was pretty much perfect. I sure I will find those magic settings soon. Are you aware of a board where 5D users post their setting and share tips? I know you are huge Canon guru

I lost all my gear and went with the 5d and 24-120 f4 myself once... went back to nikon as soon as I had money again... pretty sure any issues can be adress in PS with a couple of clicks no big deal...

Nikon has color issues..... They add 81a warming to all of their glass. Called the "Nikon look" for fashion back in the 70's it took off very well.

Canon glass is 100% clear no warming added. If I want warming I will add filters.

Jay is used to that Nikon look. Canon is far ahead of the curve and leaves manipulation up to the shooter.

Glad to see you with Canon. Check out many more lenses they have than Nikon does as well

I had to pull the reds out in Adobe Bridge and bump up the greens. It was a cloudy day and I was between 5400-6000 kelvin degrees. I still need to tweek it to get the color I got from the Nikon.

On cloudy days:

Set your picture profile to STANDARD set your color space to RGB not adobe RGB

Standard or faithful shoots what you see is what you get more or less.
Standard RGB is the same, ADOBE RGB tends make colors more saturated and pop more.

I ONLY use Landscape when shooting out in bright sunlight with ADOBE RGB

PP Setting: Standard or Faithful
Color: Standard RGB
White Balance: 5600 to 6500k depending on how dense grey and dense blue the clouds are. If the model is super pale/white use 7000k

I opened some RAWs in Bridge and they are showing up dark for some reason I cant figure it out Im using Adobe Bridge CS5.

I can edit the JPEGs in bridge no problem they show up bright and VIVID.

I have a super fast system with an I7 core processor and 16 gigs of ram but when processing RAW files it takes forever to do a batch. It seem easier to just edit the JPEG which dont tie my machine up all day to render one set of images. If I can get the raw images to show up correctly in Bridge that would be nice

.jpg's are not good to edit with, shoot in RAW only. Use Canons DPP software to edit exposure and white balance to get the look and feel you want from the image, then use Photoshop to do the rest.

You can batch edit all the images in Canon DPP very fast. This is the professional way to do this. You can also use Lightroom 3.0 for Canon RAW files
