The .com extension is king, as posted in another thread, .com is owned by verisign.

ICANN doesn't even run .com.

More extensions are coming then once the money has been made on all those it will be "right of the dot" custom extensions.

ICANN will just dilute and dilute until you can get firstname.lastname etc this makes them money.

ICANN is in charge. Verisign is the sole registry operator by agreement of ICANN. Here's the agreement:
