Being an American ( I guess ) active and pretty woman, also educated and career oriented is not any bad, and when I was younger I had a crush on a career gal i was obsessed with.

But, the other day one Italian mofo took her and she sold out all her bidnis style for his cock and Italia.

Go figure.

Heh. I'm pretty strong willed, and believe me: not an issue *cracking up* I love my honey, but he knows that I'm going to do what I'm going to do - it's part of what he likes about me. *shrug*

What they don't understand is that I'm a single father and raising my son well, being home when he got home from school, traveling with him, and living in Australia for 5 years, were all trade offs balancing work and the kind of life and experiences I wanted, and wanted for my son.

I think it's great you're contemplating the quality of your life and experiences VS the quantity in your bank account and what you have to make to buy what you THINK makes other people with money happy.

no, not perse on a larger scale, I make about the same money and, and that is more than enough to live a fantastic lifestyle here in the Caribbean (I am single but I go out at least 3 nights a week). So I really don't understand why people here claim $200,- a day "won't get you anywhere". Fuck, with that money you can live with your family like a king in Thailand and at the same time save $150,- for a rainy day!

That is actually my plan B: if sales drop and let's say I'd would only make $25,- a day, I am off to Thailand or something like that... My location would change, my lifestyle would not ;-)

$200 a day.

I wanted to come up with $100 a day initially. But, I guess, it's too poor for American understanding and it's not making any picture of a better living then they currently have.

We're all human and I'm sure Western people are scared about medical services of the 3rd world, heck knows what can happen, right? So they better pay $200 month to have an access to the best medicine in the world, like USA.

And what i'm currently doing im living off the big city where you can easily spend your dollar just becasue they have new iPad or new RayBan glasses, you keep spending more wisely if it can be said that way.

At times when i get to the point of feeling too wild being remote i jsut drive 70 miles to a bigger town where they have shopping malls.

While on holiday a vacationer versed in business matters asks a local fisherman about his day.

"I get up" he says "catch the fish I need for market and sell them when it opens. It's around 4 hours work a day, then I come home and spend the whole rest of the day with family and friends doing whatever we choose"

Seeing the way that the Fisherman operated his business, the vacationer quickly says "You know, you could get more boats and work longer hours. More boats and more hours mean more fish and even more money. Then after 30 or so years you could just fully retire"

The fisherman contemplates this for a few seconds "So, longer days and more stress for the next 30 years........and then do what ?" he said "wait 30 year to do pretty much exactly the same as I'm doing now"

If you settle for $200 a day - yeah then you could be satisfied.

I need more than that to live a good life - but I don't like to live cheap

No, but I like to eat at good restaurants, go out a lot, have a maid, drive good cars. Quality costs more than $200 a day (at least overhere).

Oh now I see, you live in Rotterdam..

I am from Holland too, and you need to get the hell out of there man...especially when you like to live the lifestyle you are talking about...

because I am kinda doing the things you are talking about, and $200 a day is more than enough for me... and I drink A LOT!

Well hello fellow Dutch guy... I forgot to mention: cigs and alcohol cost a lot as well.

I am planning to leave Holland within this year. I am busy moving to Spain (Valencia area). Not the cheapest place on earth, but sure it's a lot cheaper compared to Holland.

Good one. Not many people know what aging brings and how it affects everything in your life. Having a whole world on your knees when you are old wont matter much. Of course, there are lucky bustards who get rich fast. But thats another story.

I have looked at a few things, like:

- tax climate
- health care
- cost of living vs quality of living
- whether a country is gay friendly
- weather conditions
- the value and cost of properties

and Spain seems to be the best option for me right now.
