Anyone see the movie, "Too Big to Fail"?

It's an amazing nonpartisan look at what happened during the economic crisis in 2008 from an insider's point of view. It shows the fall of Lehman as well as how close the U.S. was to a complete and utter economic collapse. It also showed how the government was shuffling to broker deals in the private sector to help get rid of the toxic assets the subprime fiasco left a lot of banks holding...especially Lehman.

I loved it because they didn't blame anyone (other than the greedy fucking investment bankers). They would show real life news clips of what happened based on stuff they were doing behind the scenes. It's hard to believe that we were within mere hours of the next Great Depression, or worse. Anyone that follows politics can remember the rush to pass the TARP and forcing banks to accept the capital injections.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1742683/

Definitely worth the watch. Educate yourself.

Yeah it was pretty good... What I found particularly interesting was how stupid they were... Not clearing things with the British ahead of time so the Lehman bros deal fell through.. Not even asking the question as to how long it would take to buy the toxic assets.. "trusting" the banks to lend the money out and just saying "of course they will"... It's just scary how such inept people could be in charge of things that important.

It wasn't just the US that would have collapsed.. Everyone would have... Just look at what happened to Iceland.

It really put things into perspective, that's for damn sure. And you are right about them being so stupid. But they answered that in the movie, they said no one cared and no one regulated them because they "were making so much damn money".

I want to see it, but you know who needs more bad economic news in their lives. Just another reminder of just how people get rich by stealing money.

Oh yeah, looks like it just came out. I'll check it out this weekend.

Should be a good companion piece to Inside Job.

It does look good but Ive seen a clip and James Woods looks a bit too wimpy to be Dick Fuld - he should have done more research and acted up a bit more.

Anyway, I wanna see this....... how do you see it in the UK? Is it on cinema release?

I watched it the other night, it was decent. It sort of reminded me of the PBS Frontline episode: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/meltdown/view/

Us Koreans are way too smart for wacky round-eye hijinks. I guess you can say us chinks aren't down with the 'jinks.
