So I had my fight (Video) Results and Thank You's

First off I really Want to Thank Critical.net for all the help and support.. it honestly feels good to have you guys in my corner...

I also want to thank ScandalShows.com for all your help and support... you guys really helped me out and I appreciate it more than you know..... and I look forward to many many more chats and workings with you

I also want to thank FuzeBox from FuzeBucks.com for being there for me to gripe to bitch to.. argue with back and forth... you even hopped in the sauna with me to cut weight ... your a true friend man not many people would do shit like that.... im always here for you anything you need... anytime.. even the dreded shovel call.. im there....



Now on to the fight inself.....

So I got a shitty Win out of the deal...

that sucks...

Yes I want the win.. but I want a legit win...

Now Ive read all the other threads of everyone bashing me on this and that and oh mir was destroying me etc etc...

I got a few things to say... first of all.. whats your record? and vids?
2nd.. notice none of the other fighters or martial artist in here have said anything bad?

let me explain why...

first of all larry surprised the shit outta me.. if you google him watch his videos he never shoots for takedowns or clinches.. he comes out firing... we knew he was bigger.. for sure he's stronger...

so would it be smart for me to go stand toe to toe with someone bigger stronger than me in a fist fight? NO... I mean honestly.. I know you guys like seeing knockouts and blah blah.. but if you want to get KO'd go put your ass in a ring.. me I am going to fight smart..... just cause im smaller does not mean I can't win....

our gameplan was to watch for his overhand right and punch to the clinch take him to the fence and wear him out...

the thing is when a puncher has to wrestle and pummel his arms fill with blood they get heavy .. adrenlin dumps.... our game plan was wear him out first round.. then play on the 2nd round... any one who fights would say thats a great idea.. would I want to takedown a guy stronger than me? sure but not right off the bat.. as you see in the video he can throw me around but as long as you stay cool you can survive....

so we hug a bunch ... in the straighest way posable fight for posotion.. in the judges eyes I'm winning holding him on cage.. im controling.. if you notice he has to fight for posotion.. which is fine... he gets a trip on me... now he's winning in reality he was in a great spot to fuck me up... but I got my underhook and went ear to heart on him.. he can't punch me.. he throws one punch that basicly grazes off of me..... so in order to hit me he has to create space.. and any jits guy know's space is your time to shine... so next when he went to posture since I had my underhook I just rode it got my legs and stood up very fast.... now were back to even again... as strong as he is and me against a cage if I let myself get in bad spot he fucks me up.. but I stayed calm as a cucumber..

you can tell he knew I was looking to play on top cause when I got a single on him he sprawled like the fucking devil was there.... cause he wanted none of me on top...

so now he starts a barrage of punches in on me.... well my game plan on a puncher is move fwd always head first... you close distance he not punching.....

he threw what 4 punches the whole fight? the first one grazed my head and arm... the rest missed.. go ahead and watch it again and again over and over again..

trust me ive watched it many many times and beat myself up over this and that and this and that..... and in the end I keep coming back to it was pretty much even on the score cards until then... ive watched it with many pro fighters and we all say same thing.. I held my own just fine and it was 50/50....

now we get to the knee.. so in the rules meeting it was 45 min of NO KNEES TO HEAD EVER and NO ELBOWS thats all it was... they are very strict on it...



so I went in with my face unprocteded and got caught on my fucking jaw and got my marbles jarbled ... it happends it sucked... I would much rather have kept going trust me... the doc stopped it.. who am I to argue? and frankly my bell was rung.. so what.. it happends ... we didn't train for knees to the head....

up until that point I was holding my own just fine.. it was even..

I got points for cage control making him work.. he gets points for the trip.. it was a good trip.. he muscled it but it was good and took me down.. I got up.. he did no damage to me.. that scored me points back... I went for takedown he sprawled ...

at what point exactly is he dominating me? by no means am I dominating him either ......

did I make mistakes? sure I did.. do I think I look better than my last fight? you bet your ass I do... you can say what you want about the knee but im no bitch and that fucker rung my bell if it were a pro fight would he have won? more than likley but then again I would have trained for the knees to the head in the 12 week training camp..... how many of you can say you fought Main Event Memorial day fight weekend in a packed house at the same venue that Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonner duked it out for the first season of the ultimate fighter.. in front of over 2500 people ? win / lose/ draw I had a lot of fun.. I learned .. and most importanly there will be a rematch and it will be bigger than this fight was....

I'm pissed about it.. he's pissed about it... were going to fucking war .....


and in all honesty it was pretty shitty to see all the comments on here from some of you who clearly have no idea wtf your looking at and talking about....

want my opinion it was a boring fight to the general fan.. but at no point do I think he was dominating me... it was a pretty even fight on the score cards...

People are always going to comment on sports/shows even if they don't know anything about it. That happens with every sport. I wouldn't worry about it though, especially on this forum.

I'm a huge boxing fan who is just starting to open up to MMA a bit so I won't attempt to know the intricacies of your match, but I wouldn't waste your time justifying what you do on here. I watched it Danza, Honestly I think you did great.
Next match watch that guys guns if he gets a square one on ya you will be hurtin.

I saw what ya were doing ( I have quite a record in wrestling when I was younger ) and big guys like that tire out easily especially if they are sucking down a weight, if you got endurance you can get em. Surviving the the burst is the trick.

Good luck on the next match I will be watching

Watched the fight. As much as I think Danza is a total tool, it does take balls to get in the ring. I'm sure he didn't want it to end that way any more than Mir did. You don't spend all that time training to finish in the first round with a DQ.

As for the actual fight its self, in MMA it could go either way. I think Mir would have pulled that one out because I don't think 2 minute rounds would have been long enough to work any real "wear him out" type of game plan and his strength was pretty obvious. That being said, anything can happen so we're left what DID happen, and that's a win by DQ.

Good plan not jumping guard on the guillotine choke I think that could have been disasterous. The Trip you should have defended, but he's a pretty strong looking dude and he obviously muscled it as much as technique so meh, sometimes there's not much you can do about that.

Curious, are you ready to come clean what your real BJJ belt is?

Congrats on the win, fuck the haters they can sit back and armchair quarterback all they want. How many of them have had the balls to go thru the work necessary to get fight ready and then have the balls to walk into the ring.

I always have a good laugh when i see buddy's who don't play hockey sit there and watch a nhl game and scream at the tv. They have no clue how hard it is to compete at that level and what it takes to get there. Shit i only play against washed up junior A players and i still get my ass handed to me weekly LOL!

Take the W, shrug off what happened and start training for your next fight!

yeah I was for sure not deep enough to jump that ... and you can tell by the way he right away puts his hands on my hip that he knows my a jits guy....

as for the wear out.. any other of his videos he tired pretty quick after the first round... almost phill baroni style.. like if you survive the storm your good...

you know as well as I do... you grapple a striker he tires ... we felt we had no other option.. im not a striker and not going to strike a striker..... he was very strong.. as you can see he can toss me around... but im very used to grappling people who out weigh me by 40lbs every day... your a jits guy... if he knew anything he should have been able to hold me down against cage.... I just never really felt in danger I guess... really shitty win man really shitty win....


as for my belt rank...

I am a purple under Reylson Gracie but in all honesty my whole attitude on belts has changed...

it's all who your under... ive seen whites under good doods destroy blacks under shitty doods....

IMO were all white belts ....

I think it was pretty decent for an amateur fight. I've only been to 3 myself, but from what I've personally seen... most amateur fights are a total clusterfuck and it's simply one guy whomping on another. In this fight there was a bit of back and forth, so that's always good, I think it would have gotten even better had there not been a DQ.

I'm not so knowledgable about all the belts, and how one moves up or down in belt rank.

As I understood it, in many martial arts, White belt is the lowest rank, and Black belt is the highest rank, but the belt order in Jiu-Jitsu runs (lowest to highest) White - Blue - Purple - Brown - Black, and then Red:



Then there are all of those stripes or degrees.

Why/How did you fall to Purple belt?

In 2005, when you infamously called out Kimbo Slice, you stated repeatedly and emphatically that you were a 3rd degree Black belt:

Some very talented grapplers are not BJJ trained. It doesn't mater, but trying to look good by saying you are something you aren't, well, that doesn't put you in a good light.
Now you can surely tell us which person on the list you were, and more importantly, how did you fall from 3rd degree Black Belt all the way down to Purple belt?

Do you think that this terrible injustice will be corrected, and that you will rightfully be reinstated as a 3rd degree Black belt, now that 5 or 6 years have passed and you are 2-0 as an amateur, coming off a big DQ win over a W1 - L2 (now L3) fighter?

Well Danza came clean about his real ranking now, so I guess that's fair enough. I bet he feels pretty silly saying he was a black belt, knowing now how much work a purple belt takes.

Belts are more of a starting point and a measurement of your personal level of commitment and development. People train for lots of different reasons, and only a small portion ever compete (even in BJJ tournaments, nevermind MMA). People have different levels of athleticism and naturally ability as well. So if a 19 year old kid who wrestled in high school starts BJJ at the exact same time in the exact same class as a 45 year old accountant who's doing it for a sport and the exercise, you have different expectations of them. If they both train hard, in a year and a bit they'll both be blue belts. Will they be equal as opponents? Obviously not.

So when you look at a purple belt (like I am too), you're looking at someone who's put in 5+ years usually (6 for me so far) of training to get to that level. You can expect they won't make rookie mistakes and have a fairly good understanding of all the techniques, and more importantly, how to apply them live. Pretty much anyone, with enough work, can get to a blue belt. Purple belt is where is starts getting tough.

When they announced the winner, I can tell even you felt like rematch is needed.

I'm going to be blunt and honest with you, your game has a lot of holes in it. Your wrestling is terrible, your take down defense is below par, your brazilian jiu-jitsu looked non-existent and last but not least, your stand up looked as if you were playing patty-cake with your baby sister.

Just an honest critique from someone who has been doing BJJ (purple belt) for 4+ years and has helped more people than I can remember get ready for amateur and pro fights.

It looked as if you were in there thinking this was a skrimish, rather a full blown MMA Fight, which it was.

Props to you for getting in there at all, so keep your head up and continue to move forward in the progression of tuning yourself into a complete MMA fighter. Let me know if you have any questions...

I think if you animated or photochopped the fight video so BOTH GUYS LOOKED THE SAME SIZE, the fight was pretty fair, gotta agree with Danza on that, it wasn't that one sided.

I mean if you watched the same video, and CGI Danza as Larry and Larry as Danza everyone would be saying Danza was winning, just your perception because Larry was a muscly dude. But most black belts are pretty lean and a lot faster.

Looked like more than 15lbs difference too so doesn't mean anything really.

Belt is only politics at the Brown and black level and nobody here will ever truly understand that as I do. There is also more to being a Black belt than the belt and tapping everyone out. Well you summed it up better than any non-fighter possibly could, but to my perspective, watching the clip, you seemed to be more in control and it looked like a desperation move to try and get that knee through to your chest. He seemed to be getting tired, and his confidence changed drastically after you recovered so quickly off the ground; I bet size-wise he figured you would be gone in under a minute; so, he over-committed and expended energy too quickly, then realized you would be there for a couple more rounds and it shook his confidence and led to mistakes.

Just my opinion.

Kudos for the discipline to do it regardless of wins, losses, or draws and DQs.
