What is the best way to accept large payments in the field?

A family member runs a contracting business repairing roofs, etc. He wants to be able to accept payments at the location. Assuming cell phone service is available, what do you recommend for accepting large, two-five thousand dollar payments instantly at the customers location?

thats what I would say. plus some of them allow you to enter a check to ensure payment goes through. worst case you can write down the CC info then process it at your office

We have a free NETbilling iPhone app to accept payments anywhere. If it is for regular payments we can set it all up at a great rate. Please contact our sales department for more information.

Most debit cards won't let you charge large amounts.

Do you have an Android app?
With NETbilling, a merchant can manually input 16 digit credit cards into the phone via touchscreen and process $5k payments?

We used these guys to setup a merchant account and got a wireless terminal fedex'd for free:

http://merchantservicestotal.com/

They are an agent for Total Merchant Services.

Very smooth and quick setup. High dollar amounts are no problem.

Just a word of advice, Visa and Mastercard regulations state that any card transaction where the card isn't swiped are supposed to have a imprint instead. Remember when cabs and pizza delivery people used to take imprints? It's because if you say "I didn't authorize that" and filed a dispute, the merchant is SOL if they didn't get an imprint (on transactions where the card isn't swiped).

Not like your clients would probably file disputes, but if they did and you weren't swiping the cards - you're going to wish you had an imprint.
