If Obama fails to protect Social Security he can kiss the presidency goodbye

I doubt centrist Clinton would have had Social Security on the table, is Obama a republican plant?

"On the table" can mean ANYTHING.

For example - let's say a person pays $80,000 into SS throughout their lifetime. Now they are 67 years old, and worth $5 Million dollars.

If a cap is put on them, so they are unable to extract more than the $80,000 they invested, since they can clearly survive easily on their own, is that really a CUT in SS benefits, or a logical way to keep the program solvent for those who really need it?

There are tons of ways to cut waste in social programs, that can actually STRENGTHEN the programs, even if they sound like "cuts" on the surface.

Meanwhile, they have "tabled" a vote on "Cut, Cap, and Balance" in the Senate.

If that just gets shot down we are essentially just pushing this problem back yet again, with no real fix, making the consequences that much more dire when the axe eventually falls. Damn Politician scumbags only vote in their own self interest, and the voters only see what is happening this week, never next week, or next year. We will probably go the same route as Greece...

I'm disgusted.

"Cut, Cap, and Balance" never had a chance in hell of passing. It is more radical than the Ryan plan, and tilted so fucking far for the rich, it would be INSANE if it were to ever pass!

The Republitards know they are going to have to make some concessions for revenues, so they put this pile of steaming shit on the table, so they could vote for it (knowing it would never pass), so now they can say they did the right thing, but the evil Democrats stood in their way yet again.

What a joke!

Really? He got elected by getting people to mindlessly chant "Hope" and "Change" and by capitalizing on Bush's falling popularity - i seriously doubt actual issues are going to threaten his presidency unless Republicans magically show up with a rock star candidate.

Good point.

If I had $5Mil when 67 I wouldn't even want to collect SS.
I mean, SS is not even worth the time to apply when you have $5mil.

I could put 2 mil in interest baring savings account and live off the interest better
than SS.

They don't refer to Social Security as the third rail of American politics for nothing.

If Obama fucks with that, his constituency will (justifiably) feel abandoned and they'll have no use for him anymore.

The Republicans will smell blood and that's when they'll start taking this election seriously and put up some serious candidates.

Oblamea has ABSOLUTELY 'NO' CHANCE of being re-elected unless the Republicans and/or Tea Party throw up a TOTAL DUNCE to run against him.

Obama is probably hated by just as many people that hate Casey Anthony (sorry to bring that name up with y'all hopeing she was dead and forgotten by now)

Anyway, OBAMA'S chances are extremely slim to NONE.

And, a big NO, I am not a Republican and/or right wing nutcase ... just using common sense at what he has done (and/or NOT DONE so far).

Peace to all ...
