Stand up desk...

I have a pretty bad back and sitting all day is just making it worse. Does anyone use a stand up desk? If so, where's a good place to buy one and what's an average cost?

You mean a high desk where you can use a stool or stand? I don't think you would want to stand up for that long...

Do a test with 2x4's and plywood. Easy to make the right size for you in about an hour.

I do get up and walk around the office a few times a day to help stay loose but the static sitting is too much. I would definitely have a stool that I could use from time to time rather than standing the whole day. I figure it's easier to stand and work w/ the option to sit and work rather than vice versa. I'm too tall to stand and reach my keyboard on my normal desk.

I know a few people that have made the switch lately and they have all liked it. It's better for your back and circulation, too. You would want to watch your knees and feet I believe, but they make mats for you to stand on for long periods of time that help reduce the strain. Most have also commented on weight-loss.

Works really well with hanging weight penis extenders which is a godsend especially since fast-size got shut down.

I've never tried that. The best way, I find, is to stand on a roof and throw a cinderblock over. Massive cock within seconds.

I switched a few months ago. I bought an adjustable height desk and not only is it too much of a hassle to adjust it up and down but also didn't end up being tall enough. I put 2 boxes of tile that I had laying around under each corner to prop it up so I can test it out and have been using it ever since. The ony bad thing is it hurts your feet so you need something to stand on. I get lots of seat upholstery done for my business so I had some seat foam thats 4" thick and i cut a 2'x2' square and I stand on that and my feet feel fine. You will want to sit down for like 5-10 minutes an hour so what I do is I have a bar stool from my kitchen that I pull up to rest my legs every once in a while. Its much better for your back because you feel like you have to straighten out your posture all the time and stand up perfect to take the strain off your back and be more comfortable instead of being hunched over in a chair.

standing all day just switches the problem elsewhere. If you have posture issues in your chair then you are most likely to have posture problems when you are standing as well.

I've worked long hours in machine shops standing all day and I overcame a lot of these issues by keeping a firm upright position, don't slouch and be sure to get some good shoes. What helps even more is getting some of those rubber work matts they have at home depot. Stack a few on there and it will save your knees and feet some shock. Sitting is even easier though.. get up and walk around for 10 seconds every hour and you don't have to worry about circulation issues either.

Straight ghetto. I added stainless steel legs to my desk and raised it to 40 inches:

I know it was talked about before but I stand at my desk 12-16 hours a day because I have to. I have pressure mats that I stand on and wear Nike Air Max full airsole running shoes. Your feet will now take all of the pressure your butt used to to absorb. I do it by continually shifting my weight while working. I also use a Logitech diNovo mini keyboard for 99% of my typing but have a really nice Wave keyboard when I need F keys or move something CS5. I use an old police style metal desk with an L attached to it. It has a hard formica top that is super tough and and plus I had about 15 of these in my garage after closing my 3500sq ft mortgage office. I have a extra free one for anyone in the dallas area ;)

I think I need one. I stay hunched over the PC on a chair so long that I noticed myself walking that way when trying to see how cute I was by casually looking at my reflection on car/store windows while I walking.

I converted to chest high desk with a good office stool about 2 years ago, and won't ever go back.

I find myself sitting more these days, but the option to stand is always there. Just make sure you have some decent shoes. Standing for long periods can be just as bad as sitting.

A few of our staff use stand up desks. Since they'd like them to adjust and since they also have lap tops they tend to use something like that that adjusts to standing height:
