Ccbill fix this shit immediately or we are through!

Yes yes I know - contact Client Support! Well, I did and am waiting their reply but want to see who else here on GFY is experiencing this phenomenon:

I received an ANGRY email from a potential customer. Here it is below. But first let me say that I am based in NYC and have not traveled outside the US for perhaps three years (excepting Canada). I am now in Europe - Berlin and Prague - so now I could actually "test" what the customer is complaining about myself. And guess WHAT?????? Lo and Behold he's RIGHT!!!

CCBill: You must IMMEDIATELY fix this nonsense or we are through doing business together. HOW MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE I LOST BECAUSE OF THIS? WHO WILL COMPENSATE ME FOR THESE ERRORS AND LOST SALES? Perhaps my Lawyer, who has been CC'd on this matter, will have some suggestions on how CCBill could compensate me? We shall see.

Here is the email, confirmed by myself from Prague:

I´m was going to join the site: Chubby Blondy, but on the first site the value was in dollars, and when i was going to fill in the form it was in euros!!!
What is this???
Know you lost one customer

I gave this potential customer a free month as a way of apologizing. But again I ask: HOW MANY SALES/CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN LOST BECAUSE OF THIS? And how long has this been going on CCBill? I read in other threads some webmasters with this same exact problem so I doubt it is just me (which is why I post it here).

Anyone else seeing this shit nonsense?

FIX IT!

was it $29.95 = € 29.95?

then you can switch it off in the CCBill admin or you need to remove the $ amount from your site. otherwise people are of course pissed

or was it $29.95 = € 22.43?

then no Euro guy has a problem with it

while the regional billing might make you more money in a single purchase, i am still sure it pisses many people off. at least i feel screwed when i notice that i am paying 30% more than US clients.

Apple is the worst offender for this - they also do $ = € which makes Apple products 30-40% more expensive over here

Hi Ma - see you in Brno in a couple weeks - the price was 29.95 in dollars and then 29.95 in Euros. So no, not good. PLUS these settings have been set correctly in my Admin area ever since the accounts were setup. This isn't my first ride at the rodeo. LOL Every time I add a site, about once a month, I set it up to avoid this nonsense. But somehow, mysteriously, this problem is occuring on many (but not all) of my sub-accounts, I just checked.

Sigh.

I'm sure CCBill will say everything is fine, or it's MY fault, or some such, but I am getting tired of finding these problems. Sales and customers are hard enough to come by and then you see this shit and it's really frustrating.

Haha! Thank you! Lots of great sites to promote, and we recently updated the affiliate program with a fuckload of new promo materials. When I get back we will have weekly updates, too.

But let me fix this regional pricing thing first.

And YES people I know I can turn it off. It was supposed to BE OFF but now there is this. Thank you al tho for pointing this out. But I do notice sttings on my account mysteriously changing from time to time, without my authority or any actions from me, so it amkes you wonder, eh? Not saying CCBill is doing this maliciously BUT if CCBill is having these problems then they are having internal problems maybe, either with technology, systems or - gasp! - human error.

Whatever, FIX IT.

I adjusted my CCbill settings to reflect the regional pricing... and watched as sales amounts went through the roof. I have not seen a slow down of signups... in fact, EU sales have only risen. If you leave your regional pricing turned off you are throwing away money IMHO. That one customer who complained... poor him but no sympathy from me and this is why. The dollar is weak, and this is the internet where the global economy is applicable to pricing.
What next, he thinks he can go down to a car dealership and demand the US price for a Chevy Camaro there in EU? yah... that will go over well I am sure.

Throwing that guy a free month... he played his hand well. Personally I would have just created a promotion in CCbill's system and given him the promo code to redeem a membership with a discount reflective of the difference.

I am sorry, perhaps I am not being clear because of my travels. The regional pricing is ON but the correct pricing does not appear. So it does NOT translate to the desired correct price in whatever currency.

In other words (sorry): the price should be $29.96 recurring, which translates to about 22 euro. BUT instead it says 29.95 Euro so SOMETHING is wrong. LOL

GRRRR!

PS: I don't think this potential (now lost) customer was trying to play me. I can tell. No, the email came to my affiliate program address, which is not easy to find. Plus, he was shocked I would give him anything for free and replied in a very kind way. No, I think he just thought I was doing a "bait-and-switch" on him, which is understandable, and which is why I started this thread. This is BAD BUSINESS if someone thinks you are trying to play games with them and their money.

Again: grrrrr!

Doesn't regional pricing on mean that CCBill adjusts to what the traffic will bear, in their estimation, and not a direct currency conversion of your dollar pricing?

[QUOTE=MisterPeabody;18465406]the price was 29.95 in dollars and then 29.95 in Euros./QUOTE]

ya its true and has nothing to do with regional billing, which just makes a currency conversion. what you are seeing is local currency, not regional billing. if you notice, the ccbill price code for $9.99 a month is the same as for 9,99 euros a month. they see the price number as the same.

to solve this you have to send the allowed currencies variable. if 840 (US) is your only allowed currency then all customers worldwide will only see dollars.

so add this to your join links:
allowedCurrencies=840
or the form version of it.

on your prices, add 'code:840' to make sure customers only see dollars.

i noticed this in like 2003 when i was working in Portugal...

I have a question... maybe off topic. The rebill is bigger than the initial price ? Is this normal, I thought normally the re bill was less ? Just a question from a NOOB sorry

Some may set the first to more as a trial.

though i do think a lower re-bill is better.

but its probably worth testing.

Its cool brother. Understandable. I travel a lot and man it REALLY messes with your head, so no need to explain.

Regional pricing, with my site at $29.90 USD usually translates to about $40.00 a pop when an EU customers joins on... So I don't know... at this point I guess you can color me confused too because I thought my customers were getting charged at 29.90-euro which is why in US dollars it is a LOT (oh the humanity... sob) MORE. Then again I remember seeing an EU customer signing on a couple of weeks ago for exactly $29.90 USD go figure

That tends to convince me that CCBill, their site and operations are an abortion that lived. I think a judge at XBIZ has his nob polished by a CCBill exec to get the award this year. Pfffft.

Your site is misleading for starters. It says on the site I should only be paying around $20 to join but the cheapest option on the join page is $29.95.

Same here. I've noticed this several times when buying software online. The price on site says for example $99; but ?99 during checkout. That usually results in me reconsidering and not buying at all.

If you join for 3 months at $59.95 you would be paying around $20.00 a month and that option is right there on the join page.

ya regional pricing is a bad idea because its usually an incorrect conversion rate. it was something ccbill did on a whim, probably because they couldn't figure out how to change their price codes for different currencies. after all, the pricing system was built before multiple currencies were added to the join forms.

if you want different pricing for different currencies - ie set your own conversion rate - then use the proper codes. first of all add allowedCurrencies for whatever currency you want to set and then make sure to add the pricecode:currency to your allowed prices.

i had a German client that wanted to charge Europeans an exact euro amount. since the ccbill join form will default to euros for European surfers, we were simply able to add the correct euro price codes to the join form. Europeans go the Euro price and Americans got the dollar price.

for instance, you can add this and it will be regionally proper:

Code:
<input type=hidden name="allowedCurrencies" value="840,978">
<input type=hidden name="allowedTypes" value="14:840,32:978,124:840,1732:978">
<input type=hidden name="subscriptionTypeId" value="14:840,32:978">
that says show $19.95/30-days and $29.95/90-days to US/$ forms
and show 17,95?/30-days and 27,95?/90-days to EU/? forms

my advice - turn off regional pricing and configure currency prices yourself. you will get better control and happier customers. just because its a ccbill feature doesnt mean its any good. typically the opposite is true.

Look again TheDA, how many pricing options do you see?

http://www.erosexotica.com/join.html

Don't say my sites are 'misleading' you fuck, I'm in no mood.

STILL NO WORD FROM CCBILL, THRU EMAIL OR IN THIS THREAD.

And then some wonder why I start these bitch threads.

Plsureking: Your advice is grand and wise, and I may have to do this once I return. But, of course, this begs the question:

i dont think your sites are anybody's responsibility but your own. their system has obvious failures when it comes to currency. you have to work with what they have to produce what you want. i doubt they are going to recode their forms for you. they will just tell you to turn on regional pricing, regardless of whether you have them enabled or not..

regarding the lack of reply for several hours - maybe its been escalated to their tech department. they aren't even awake in that state yet.

ccbill is the largest biller, but they are not the best, nor the most technically skilled. some of the other billers have them beat with the abilities offered by their system. Zombaio and Verotel apis are far more impressive and even allow credit/micro purchasing. ccbill doesn't even have it planned. you have to enable multi-subs. but bla bla, this is the Peabody rant thread lol

lol, How is this CCBill's fault?

You have Global Forms turned on.

Works off GEO IP and displays the price accordingly (euros, pounds, etc etc) depending on what Country the customer is in.

Most everyone runs with this on that I know of. (I do and always have.) Check other sites since you are there and you will see.

Regional Billing is something different. This basically jacks the price up over the USD price and if you use this you should not have the price points hardcoded anywhere on your site like you do.

Everything is fine and dandy and then.....it's not somehow. And (conveniently?) while I am away traveling.
Honestly, I don't care what the excuse is, I want this shit fixed.

Pleasureking: You are 100% correct in that my sites are MY responsibility. I was ranting about CCBill's obvious failures and limitations, which you so elegantly wrote out for us. LOL

PLEASE believe me that this nonsense stops when I get back.
CCBill is supposed to be my "partner" in all this, right? Without my sales/money they don't get their 14.5-13.5% percent.

Perhaps I will choose another business partner upon my return (now I sound like fucking General MacArthur, great).

CCBill should have a basic webmaster test for program owners and require the result to be available in the affiliate area.

We have sent you an email letting you know why this setting was on, and approximately how much less you will make with this setting off.

what a fucking joke you are.
If I were CCBill I'd tell you to take you 10 joins a day and run along.
The guy is on icq in real time to help you out about something you've blown way out of proportion and your response is to curse at him.
I'd switch your account off.
