This is going to be one bad MOFO for 20k you can shoot feature films without all the shortcomings of the 5D Mark II.

Hmm I would have to see a side my side comparison. My guess is the Canon will be more reliable in the field but I have no experience with Red cameras.
I have 10k worth of Canon glass so I may just be renting it when its readily available. This will save editors tons of time now that there is XLR audio. The footage I saw from this camera looks amazing.

When you say "feature film" it really depends on what you want to shoot.
Blair Witch was shot with a mediocre video camera and grossed nearly 300 million, and there are others made with "low end" gear which have made millions. Right now there are HD cameras for 3k you can shoot features with, which on the small screen will have a normal 35mm film look and begs the question "why pay more" when you are shooting for the small screen anyway? But the idea of being able to shoot something with any of these new higher end cameras like the Red etc and make a 35mm print for the big screen...that is another thing entirely. Personally I have yet to see any film shot on video that has held up when transferred and projected on the big screen. They might look decent but there is always some sacrifice or degradation in quality somewhere. So imo if you are sticking to the small screen there are some amazing inexpensive cameras (3 to 10k) that more than do the job. I know Max Candy shot Inglorious Bitches on a 10k Sony and that film looks sweet, gen lock, time code in/out. It's incredible how inexpensive high end gear is these days.

Some really nice DSLRs coming out this year. Its going to be tough to decide but I am sticking with my 5D Mark II with L glass for a while since I have some much invested.
