i think its very clear that there hope will be porn is forced to move to .xxx thus making a monoloply, thus they can then put up there prices.

it would not suprise me if they are not pointing this out to the usa goverment.

if i was them i would be pushing for this and saying if you do it, add some extra tax on the domains too as this way it will raise a lot of tax, and as they will have the monopoly they will not care.

the only reason they should be advertising on tv is to be informative to the public about .xxx , they completely missed a great op to do that.

all they managed to do was get a bunch of people to go to buy.xxx thinking they could buy porn then close the window , while at the same time freaking the shit out of anti-porners and making the adult industry look like a bunch of sleazebuckets.

kudos on one aspect though . When i first saw the GGW ads on tv i was shocked.. I thought " shit someone in the ad department is going to get fired for letting this slip through " , next thing you know they were buying every late night tv ad spot available. "this guy must be making bank ( joe francis )" they were the first to really do adult ads besides chatlines on tv. so kudos for getting these ads aired i suppose, but completely bad taste and you are making us look worse than we already did

That's certainly their preferred result, a legally enforced monopoly. That's the only long term strategy that makes sense. It doesn't require a conspiracy either - they just have to keep whispering about "labeling" sites that are "not safe for children" with .xxx and some politicians will pick up on the idea. Washington already passed CDA, CDA II, and COPA. Mandatory .xxx is an even easier sell. I'm glad the guy who signed COPA, CDA, and CDA II is no longer president, but his wife is still in cabinet.

Until they can achieve that, the current tactic is to try to scare traditional mainstream companies with "if you don't pay up to protect your name, we'll sell.it to.a porn site." Basically blackmail.

hey smokey are you able to find out what .xxx are listed as *owned* by icm..i know apps.xxx and money.xxx is listed as owned by them. not that it matters much but it might give some kind of idea on their future depending which domains are directed owned by them.

It's is beyond obvious. What will happen is that porn will be banished from .com. Part of the fee for XXX is a tax. So not only will u have parents groups pushin porn off of .com but u will have greedy politicians happy to push legislation through to do so. And Google will assist by giving xxx Domains priority for porn searches.

If u are an adult webmaster an don't have at least one XXX domain u are clueless.
