Californian wolf.

Coyote.

What ever, you need to get a collar for the dog that makes it very hard for a predator to get his teeth around his neck and be careful letting him out.
coyotes are very small, weigh prolly 30-40 pounds... this was a wolf... saw the tracks as well

I've had dogs run away as a kid, no doubt wolf hybrids can get loose and do alright in the wild.
yeah for sure... might have been a hybrid for sure... no more rabbits around my place and that's a fact... a month ago there were 20 every day fucking around in the yard. sometimes something will run though the bushes and everything around here will get excited, horses, dogs ect..

If you want to figure you what you heard, listen to all kinds of animal noises on Google, that's how I learned that what I was hearing sometimes were these vixens.
Yeah I could put one out there pretty easily, might invest in one.

I hear foxes a lot! They tend to sound more high pitched than that though. It was also about 6-7 times the size of a fox, it came to within about 15 feet of the house and it was pretty big! Almost the size of a large dog like a German Shepherd.

Also, a foxes snout would be too pointy, it was more of a box shape than a cone shape.

Wasn't it wild boars? They can be huge and make crazy sounds.

I love foxes... check out this video my bud made, with a Sony Handycam put in front of a badger den during one night... image quality is poor but content is cool :-)

Mice, fox and badgers

Edit: and bm it's a pity that the rabbits are gone now because they're so cute but it's nature. I had a rabbit living on my yard for 6 years, she was part of the cat family, very cute, then one morning I found her half eaten, put a cam there and the next night a cat turned op looking for the remains of the rabbit. Wasn't my own cat, but probably from a nearby village. Now imagine that, I live next to a forest which had loads of foxes living in it, but he rabbit didn't get killed by a fox but by a stupid cat.

It still looks very beautiful though, and at least they left some pieces of forest intact. There's many places like that in the world with hills like that and no tree left.

My Mastif will rip your throat out and gently play with my 6 year old. He doesn't even need to bite you to hurt you - he'll knock you down like a linebacker and hold you down while he eats your arms off. Wanna come over?

Brian - I lost 2 dogs to Coyotes. 1 in Granada Hills, and one out here in the farmlands. 6 foot fences wont even keep them away, watch the fuck out. Just don't let him out at night unless you are right there with him. Sneaky little fuckers - they'll have a female befriend your dog and draw him out with her when the pack of 5-15 of them hunts and start at the tail, butt, and eat forward. Chickenshits never go 1 on 1. Get 2 dogs so they'll watch out for each other like I did. I got Pumas, Bobcats, and Mountain Lions out here too. And the Hawks have been known to drop down and snag little dogs while on a leash. Welcome to the jungle. Buy a gun.
