S. 1867 (NDAA): Secret Torture Provisions For Home Grown Terrorists

It just keeps getting better and better.

Not only did Section 1031 of the NDAA (S. 1867) authorize indefinite military detention of "suspected terrorists" with no right to trial, but they've gone a step further in the process of legalizing the use of "CLASSIFIED" torture techniques to those in military custody??

The reason they give is so weak, it's almost laughable..

To "make it harder for terrorists to train to avoid and resist interrogation."

ISN'T TORTURE OF P.O.W'S IN MILITARY DETENTION NOT AN EXTREME VIOLATION OF THE GENEVA CONVENTIONS?

This is where the whole 2012 end of it all begins. This is not really intended for Terrorists.
They will begin to sweep many US citizens and rid a lot of the population very soon lawfully now that this law is in full effect.

This is why I still shake my head at those who oppose the occupy movements in this country. They are out there doing something, every day, bringing attention to issues like this, and others. The rest of Americans are apathetic, lazy, and stupid. They sit back and allow their freedoms to be taken away.

You are correct as regards POW's but "civilian combatants" and "terrorists" are not given POW status.

BTW if they were to be given POW status they can legally be held...without trial...for the duration of the war...which in the case of the "war on terrorism" will be until hell freezes over.

In addition they are not discussing classified "torture" techniques.

I personally think we should just ask fanatical, ready to die for the cause terrorists politely for information. Or maybe try hugs? Gift baskets? Flowers? Take them out to a nice brunch?

The GENEVA CONVENTION was written in pencil, just like the constitution.
