Roraima, Venezuela
The hardest trail I've ever been on, but well worth the pain.
About 10,000 feet up from the base camp.

I enjoy hiking in the high peaks region of Adirondacks in upstate New York in summer. Beautiful area. I will dig up some pics from a few summits later on.

Love hiking.

The Appalachian Trail is practically in my backyard. The mountains certainly aren't impressive compared to the higher elevations around the world, but it's a beautiful hike with some impressive views, waterfalls, fresh mountain streams, good hunting, fishing, and camping locations throughout the trail.

It is funny you say that because that is how it feels when you are up there.
Roraima is in south west side of Venezuela near the Brazilian border and it is one of many "Tepuis" or table top mountains of which the animals and plants evolved differently from the species below.
So you have black frogs who do not hop, they crawl. Black rat like creatures and black birds.
The creeks on the top are filled with crystals and there are jacuzzi like areas in the creeks.

This is looking at Roraima from the beginning of the trail-

A "jacuzzi" spot-

Arthur Conan Doyle based his book "The Lost World" on Roraima. It tells the story of an expedition which finds prehistoric life on a huge plateau on a mountain.

Sadly we did not encounter any dinosaurs, but there is a huge, deep cave in the middle of the plateau which apparently has not been explored fully yet...

Hiking is what you do to get to the climb.

That looks amazing! I had spine surgery in March, not sure if I'm up to a hike on that scale just yet, but would love to get there.
