i money is not an issue. put in 8GB or memory. This will also give you the opportunity to grow within the server, if the queries go up you wont have to change servers

Should be fine. If you have issues tweak your db, mysql, or add more memory.

I'd care more about how fast my disks are and the memory taken up by Apache.

If you can use MySQL caching, 4GB should be plenty ...

We have VPS plans that have 4GB guaranteed RAM, with up to 8GB burst RAM for the times that you need that extra little "ummmph".

With 100K queries daily, your better off with a VPS setup, since you will get a much better disk I/O with a 6-10 disk RAID-10 configuration to balance the load.

VPS technology has come so far now, that many people are switching to a VPS for the redundancy and the better disk I/O rates over a dedicated server.

While we do offer shared hosting and fully-managed dedicated hosting, we specialize in managed VPS hosting. Please feel free to open a dialog with us (sales |AT| a1websolutions |DOT| com) to discuss your hosting requirements if you are looking for hosting. We would love the opportunity to earn your business.

It probably is, but you'll want to properly index your tables to avoids using more RAM, CPU, and especially IO than needed. Since you're dining the web server on the same box, the resources needed by the web server is another question. Crappy PHP, which is typical, can use far more resources than the whole system SHOULD use.

with INNODB tables... about 256 - 500 MB RAM and a fast HD.
with InnoDB tables, properly setup between 2 and 6 GB RAM depending on your data.

Do you realize that ram is nearly free in cost? Any hosts that rips you off with a monthly fee for additional ram are scammers.

Most hosting companies charge monthly for hardware upgrades.

yeah and most of the time the hosting company pays off the price of the hardware within a couple of months yet will charge the fee for years if you let them.
