Noob question - Making Money from Content

OK as you know i am a noob so expecting many sarcastic responses implying how stupid i am, but i think asking questions is healthy.

I know how to (in theory) make money from affiliate marketing.

Suppose i buy some content off members here, how do i then go about making money from that content? Can i then charge users to download it? Or is it a matter of paying for that content and hoping it increase affiliate sales?

Also, what are members experience of exclusive vs non-exculsive content?

At what stage does a site start looking at having its 'own' content (instead of just affiliate galleries)? IE should i be more focused on traffic first instead of assessing other options?

If you look at porn paysites the business models would become self evident I would have thought.

If you can't figure out how sites monetize content then I'd say you need to spend more time studying the market, observe what others are doing and try to work out a way of doing better.

This is a tough business to be in. Start out as an affiliate, learn the ropes before jumping into buying content and running a paysite.

You can shoot your own content from day 1 if you want. It's up to you. Look at the fact that most licensed content brokers are no longer with us... so a lot of the options that were popular in years past are no longer possible. But a lack of licensed content options these days isn't to say there's not a good opportunity if you want to take it. I'd focus around creating your own brand of compelling content, and put that behind a members area... and go from there. It might cost you around $5k to test the waters with any somewhat meaningful results.

Obviously i have an idea, but that is why i am asking questions; so i can learn.

Better to ask someone with experience than to fuck it up oneself

Don't start shooting your own content unless you're really good with women. Shooting porn is about operating models, the cameras are easy compared to models. It can also be very expensive and not produce anything worthy at the end. It's more than pointing a camera at a model.

Start out as an affiliate, learn how the game works. Then come back with a list of your skills, because without that we're all guessing.

make sure that from day one on your paperwork is 100% perfect - only this way you can later go all routes in monetizing

You want to milk every dollar out of the content you get your hands on.

Pay site, vod, ppv, dvd, broadcast, foreign rights, whatever you are able to do.

you need to work on your blogging skills before you go any further, you say you have worked out your affiliate marketing skills but your blog in your sig is a mess. god knows how many visitors you'll lose by linking to just pictures alone that open on the same page for example.

start as an affiliate.

thing is, you are entering at a time when the affiliate model is transforming, and small affiliates are the biggest losers. so dude, sorry, but you are pretty much fucked.

but, if you are clever, affiliate costs are pretty small, and you may yet be able to eke out beer money, while learning what the hell all this is about.

still, start as an affiliate, figure out how that game is played. the rest will become abvious as you learn.

it used to be, an affilaite bought content from a content supplier, built galleries or pther free promotional pages and sites with it, put their affilaite banners and linsk on those pages, and one could make buckets of money that way.

I would buy $500 worth of content and expect to make $5-20k off of it over the next two years thru affiliate marketing.

nowadays most affilaites get their content directly from the sponsors they are marketing. I have hard drives full of content I bought once and almost never have a use for now, because sales and retention are better with sponsor provided content.

basically, I'm tellin ya, forget about "monetizing content", forget about buying content, when the time come sthat you can "monetize content" you'll know how.

content creators and providers have been dropping like flies, and most that are left have specialized in market sectors that you are not ready for.

if you wanna make it, shoot your own content! keep it exclusive. You need a nitch that is not over played, and if you are wanting to start your own site/program plan on spending around 15K to get it going.

Thanks Bill & Ed, some really good advice there.

Not sure if you have seen my original thread, but basically im just a big bukkake fan so thought i would have a crack at making a quick 'hobby' site. Ultimately it doesnt matter if i make money from it or not, but obviously it would be nice to make a small beer money income stream (much as my other non adult hobby sites do).

My plan is to stick with affiliate marketing, improve my site, and focus on driving traffic (which is my biggest issue, even on my non-adult sites).

Im just seeking out info more than anything, i'm one of those ppl who likes to know a bit about everything.

As to shooting my own content, i guess it could be done, Aus definitely has a smaller population so would be harder to find girls and i dunno how happy the wife would be about it...

Since you're new here: it's a joke.

He's a total idiot.

And shoot your own content if you want. Find some local amateur models and make an amateur site. If you do this right you'll be making more money than Paul within a year.

You might try another sponsor for your blog content, those images are low quality and some visitors might wonder if all the content in the members area is that bad too. Nothing against Braincash, but maybe try some unsaturated facial/bukkake sponsors that are out there. You're doing good with the updates on your blog, keep that up and keep working, you'll eventually start to see the rewards of your work.

Are you using Link Spun? If not, you could use them for hardlink trades. Submit your blogs to adult blog directories for a traffic boost (I don't usually see many sales from blog directories but I find that my new blogs seem to get indexed much faster by submitted to directories). If you're serious about making money then try to come up with a game plan for your blogging...you can either make a few huge blogs that you focus all of your attention on or you can make a bunch of blogs and just update them a few times a month. It's good that you started with a niche you love, it's much easier promoting a niche you love because you'll be able to create nice posts and your visitors will be able to tell you really like the niche as well.

Also, don't listen to the people saying there's no money to be made in adult...it takes some time to start seeing the sales consistently coming in but if you keep working hard at it and don't give up I think you'll appreciate the extra income from being an adult affiliate.

GFY can be an invaluable tool as well, I use these forums all the time to find new sponsors, promos that are going on with different sponsors, website tips, hosting advice, learn which sponsors are not paying, and you basically get to stay in the loop on the current happenings in the adult industry...not to mention some of the posts are fucking hilarious here and we have a few good trolls here that bring some laughs.

It's hard to give much advice without knowing the full situation, but from what it seems, Doing a full program is much more than what your wanting to get into, it's not a full time job. it's a full time job for a team of people. and with any Hobby/business, once you do it for "work" it quickly becomes a job....

If you're not worried about making money and into any niche, then shoot it yourself. You'll have a lot of fun. Expensive fun, but still fun. Unless you can get a girl who is into having her face creamed, you'll find they might want a $1,000. Then finding 3-5 guys who can get off in front of each other and you holding a camera isn't a 100% guaranteed. Will the girl be required to get them ready, will the girl and guys all have recent AIDS tests, do you have the cameras and lights to shoot this. It's not so easy to "retake" the money shots. Location, model releases, IDs, is it allowed in your area, etc are also things you need to consider.

This is a list of things you need to get before you shoot a scene.

Scenario
Performers, guys who can cum to order in a group are not common. Also they need to be able to aim properly. Also make double sure the girl won't recoil as a bunch of strangers cum over her face and into her mouth. A 30 minute scene is ruined as the girl shrieks and runs off when she realises what's going to happen.
Legalities sorted
Health issues sorted
Location, where it doesn't matter if cum doesn't land where it should.
Cameras, will you shoot stills and film?
Lights, with 3-5 men standing around a girl shadows are a bugger.
Robes
Towels
Shower
Shower cream
Antiperspirant
Air freshener
Shampoo
Hair dryer
Mouth wash
Loads of sweet tasting fruit juice. It makes cum taste better, which helps the girl.
Others who have done this will suggest more.

Then editing program, to cut out the bits where you waited for what seemed forever, for the last guy to come. And the bits where the cocks drooped and the guy was tossing away as it got limper and limper.

You may have watched others do this, trust me these are the things you don't see.

Cost. Well if you have all the equipment, shoot from home budget for the girl, guys and the bits and pieces you have to buy in. Your wife if she's not sure about you shooting it, she is certain you won't be using her towels.

Or listen to no nick Frank.
