Expiring domains - whats the deal these days?

There is a domain expiring with Moniker tomorrow that I want to grab.
What is the process these days? i figure it won't go to the open market directly.
Any help is appreciated

Thanks

there will be roughly a 45 day redemption period. Then the domain will go to Snapnames as a pre-release auction. If no one picks it up it'll go to a pending delete auction, then it will drop and become available on the open market.

Sit tight... be quiet... let it completely delete... register it.

Basically, don't get excited.

There is very little chance you can pick up a good expired domain name easily or cheaply. If it is any good whatsoever it will be snapped up way before you could get even remotely close to it.

moniker and snapnames are the same company. The domain will go to snapnames. Enom won't get a chance until the domain actually deletes.

The best chance to get it, is to wait until the very last minute of the Snapnames pre-release auction. If no one else bids, it'll go for around $69/$79.

You have it backwards. The domain will go through SnapNames first. Moniker's grace period lasts about 34-35 days before the domain becomes available at SnapNames. Then if no one bids, it goes into a 30-day Redemption Period and 5-day Pending Delete. This is for .com's and .net's Different domain extensions and registries may use different deletion schedules. In any case, check SnapNames for the specific auction schedule.

It seems to be a lot harder than even last year.

Moniker send expired names to Snapnames.
