I just saw something very cool.
My next door nieghbour works for HP and bought home a prototype 3D printer.
He called my at about 3am to show me - He is like a kid with a new toy. We printed out a scan of his house key. It didnt work in the lock and for some reason had a horrid smell - but it was pretty impressive. Give it a few years and it will be useful.

You know they already have those. They are for designers and engineers and such, not really for consumers. There is not really a very practical use for consumers as printing complex items is near impossible or very expensive.

 but yeah, these 3D printers are amazing! Can't even imagine the limit for the possibilities....
