Outsourcing Blog Posts Question - GoFuckYourself.com

I have a question for those of you who outsource the writing of your blog posts. Do you simply give the writers access to all your blogs? Or you have them send you the posts in a word document and you paste the post in wordpress?

Or, you guys use a blog management software for your writers?

In WordPress, etc, you can give them user accounts that only have access to add posts, and edit their own posts. No need to make them admins, if that's what you're asking.

I was going to say...I've had clients do it both ways. Some they have me post for them, others just want everything in a doc and they'll handle the rest. Comes down to what you wanna do more than anything

Pretty much the same here. However some of the ones I have been working for years now and they trust me with admin access.

Few just prefer txt files with the posts and they do the rest, whatever works best for them works for me.

Hey Rick D,

My clients have done all 3 of the above options:

1. Send them posts via Word Doc.
2. Give me author rights to Wordpress.
3. Full Admin rights to Wordpress.

The ones just asking for Word Docs are usually doing it because:
a. The blog is not live yet.
b. They are trying to hide their domain from even me.
c. They are uncomfortable with giving anyone ANY login rights.

My preferred choice is to have Author rights. It allows me to do my job without the risk of being responsible for any "strange occurrences in the night".

The ones who give me Admin rights are usually because I am installing the theme, adding plugins, adding graphics, possibly creating banners, etc...Along with producing the blog posts and other pages.

Interestingly, new clients are usually just as willing to give me admin access as existing clients, but as I said before, I really prefer author access only unless there is a compelling reason for extended rights.

NOTE: There are a few blogs I have never logged into directly, only posting via Microsoft Live Writer. The login credentials would work to login directly, but was never a need.

It all depends on how much you trust you writer. If you want to work the smartest and its a fresh site admin rights and pay to get the writer to do all including wp config. If you are worried about link codes being changed out setup a central domain that you manage yourself with a wordpress install and a simple plugin like gocodes that lets you add custom url redirects. You add your aff codes tell writer the url of the redirect and you have a foolproof way to ensure all links are yours.

I used to request docs. Now I have them write the posts in a special custom form that puts everything in a temp db.

Some time ago doc/txt/xml files were used. Later, it was simple online service,
where each writer had it's own account to store the draft/complete work in (something like ticket system)... Posts with "green" status were imported automatically to the target sites.

You can make them contributors also and then they can post drafts, but you need to publish after checking them.

Yes, I give them ~50 folders with 3 pics in each and just tell them to write something about it.
