Discuss what's fucking going on, and which programs are best and worst. One-time "program" announcements from "established" webmasters are allowed.

Are warning pages on paysites neccesary?

i've owned a paysite for a while, but never had a warning page on it. with the current administration and their tough stance on porn, should i put up a standard warning page on the site? you know, 'you must be 21 to enter this site, read the agreement, blah blah'

what are your opinions on warning pages?

I spoke with John A-S-H-C-R-O-F-T earlier today and mentioned your problem.

I quote

" Warning pages are not necessary only if you promote Bukkake or anal fisting"

Hope that helps

Look at it this way... Warning pages show goodwill, in a field where the *opinion* of a judge or jury as to what is "obscene" could matter a lot. I can't imagine they can do any harm, in that respect.

On the other hand, they also filter out crappy traffic without hitting bandwidth too hard. Sure, clicks to the main tour pages go down, but the people who are going to sign up will make it just find.

I have heard attorneys say saying things on a warning page such as "you attest or swear that you are not a law enforcement official engaged in official activity," could actually work against you.

Just a thought.

Right now, I just have a CYA on the site, like gothweb said, to show that im not giving people hardcore stuff without making sure they want it.

Basically, if my ass is hauled into court, I can say everyone had to click on the enter link before seeing the site. I dont show hardcore in preview areas, they gotta pay for the good stuff.

If you are showing hardcore on the first page, no judge will give you sympathy.
