Whats a good video editing software for windows thats not too expensive?

I always use Windows Movie Maker but it really sucks. I want to get good at video editing and use something with more features that can do more.
What do you recommend?
Adobe Premiere is too expensive, and I only have a windows PC, no Mac.

thanks

Premiere is like $800. I'm looking for something decent for like $150-200 range. Im not looking to be a master video editor just get better at video

Vegas is around $80 and its great. I've been using it for 8 years, and while I'm not Steven Soderbergh, I still do a lot of complex editing projects.

Vegas is the most user friendly of the options mentioned, but I discovered Camtasia Studio (v.7) about a year ago and it's very similar to movie maker, but with much more power and options. It has a free trial and to purchase is $300, but there are of course, ways of getting it at a much better price.

Pinnacle Studio very easy, no learning curve at all but does a great job.

We mostly use videocharge for last couple years but if we find a need to get fancy we go to proshow producer. It even comes with a ton of great templates for intros/exits.

AVS Video Editor is very simple, fast and it has all the basic features most people need. Works perfectly and supports all popular formats. I think it costs $60 and you can try it for free with a watermark on the output.

I use Corel Video Studio Pro. I think it is about $60-$80 depending on if they have a deal going. It isn't too fancy, but for what I do which is edit full length movies down to small trailers and samples it works well.

My final videos never work right for some reason with this program. The video and audio is often not aligned properly, there are moments of choppiness, the list goes on and on.

I bought Sony Vegas Pro 11.0 this Christmas and I love it. It was around $450, but so much less frustration. I only use it for basic things, but from what I can tell it's very powerful. A lot of good YouTube tutorials as well.

Instead of spending $200 now and $200 again in three months on another piece of software because you don't like your first buy, I would suggest going with one of the more expensive but quality products that are available right from the start and save yourself the hassle of learning two different pieces of software and not liking either of them in the end.

I just looked at the prices. Pinnacle Studio looks pretty cheap, sounds like your winner.
