Low Level Formatting my WD 2TB external hdd

so, my 2tb external wd hdd died last year...windows didn't recognize it, so i couldn't low level format it with the wd tool...yesterday, for some reason, it appeared in the disk management section, and the low level format started as well ;)

screenshot was taken yesterday..now it's been running over 19hours and it says 9404 hours left ;D gonna be fun lol

Blimey - Thats a pain...

Could you put it in an old machine and format with a more efficient Linux tool?

well, nothing seems to recognize it...i was really surprised it worked out yesterday..not sure if it's the filesystem which is damaged, or the hardware itself..will see

anyway, the hdd was attached to my wdtv media player, and it had like 1tb 1080p movies on it...i got an old netbook from a friend of mine and I've transferred all the files from it to the hdd...after a few days, the hdd died...no idea what really happened tho :s

first try: low level formatting
second will be the change of the electric panel on it...who knows ;D

btw, it was a cheap buy anyway...i payed about 30euros for it since it was discounted lol
