Why is this such a surprise. Renters do it all the time.

A friend of a friend of mine is going through a divorce and frankly doesn't have the money to rent. She's been living in their house; They haven't paid the mortgage in years and the house was recently sold at auction. The new owner came over to look at their new house was told no and told to leave. As fucked up as it seems, she lives there, she's a tenant, and she has rights.

(The really sad part is she has kids.)

This is so easy to fix.

One. Have someone sneak in and plant drugs in the house, packaged as if they are for sale.

Two. Tip off police, who then raid the house

Three. Move back in to your now empty house.

The part i'm struggling with is moving a family into a property that's listed for sale or intended to be sold. You don't need to be a real estate genius to understand the problem of not only getting the residents out and complex tenants rights issues, but you have a high probability of dealing with damages should they decide on a whim to trash the appliances, walls, carpets, hardwood floors etc. when being evicted or facing evictions.

not a bad idea, but I doubt they would raid the house just based on some anonymous tip? that only happens in the movies?

Here there's a law if they're three days behind, you can post notice on the door. Then file in court on the 3rd day. About 2 weeks later you get a hearing. Couple of days later, the sheriff does the eviction. Friend used it on two tax sale properties. One moved out before the 3 days.

its not cheap to evict someone and you better know the law. if you mess up they can come back and sue you. best thing is get a attorney to do it.

If you're paying rent, you're going.

If you have a mortgage, there's a million things going on. You could possibly stay and get a reduction in your house payments.

oh and the house wasn't stolen she entered into a month to month tenancy when she gave them the keys. when she found out they would not get out. she should have made up a lease so she can get some of her money back.
