Oron Sued

I guess I'll be the first to pop the news out there.

Liberty Media / CorbinFisher has taken the lead - as they have many times in the past - in doing what they can and has sued Oron.com, parent company FF Magnat and the REAL owner, which is a guy in Florida.

The documents are now part of the public record and are available from sources such as RFCexpress.com

I have collected them all and placed in this online folder.

http://truebabes.com/oron/

Cheers,

Jimmy

I wonder if this will end with an indictment or a settlement.

Its a civil lawsuit seeking damages (money) from Oron.com on behalf of Liberty Media.

But, now that its out there other companies can sue if they hire lawyers and pay the fees.

Everyone already had the ability to sue previous to this. Correct? What are you distinguishing as the difference between then and now?

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, everybody had ability to sue at any time. Liberty, and those working with them, have done the VERY HARD work of tracking down the real owners and have busted through all the shell companies, fake identities, and traced the money.

I meant to express that it would now be easier for others to sue because that information is now in the public record and new suits would not be as costly to prepare and litigate.

It's not exactly VERY HARD work. It's not that difficult to track them down. It's not as if nobody on here didn't know who owned it.

Normally you don't bother me, and I think that generally speaking, you bring some valid points to the table.

But you are seriously going to bust his ass over this? Maybe you are right...maybe it wasn't VERY HARD work, I honestly don't know what was involved to uncover who the owner is. But it is work that they at least did do, which is more than anyone else to date in terms of bringing legal action.

Whatever the case, he is about to have his ass handed to him. Finally. And being he is in the USA, he is more or less fucked. He will either lose his assets, including his site, or settle for an amount that may put him out of business. Either way, couldn't happen to a better shit stain.

Countdown until a few more smaller file lockers close upon news of this. The biggest pussies already closed after Megaupload. Now lets see who is bold enough to think they can't be found and served.

I know of several people who have been trying to track that guy with no luck.

This is just a case of friends looking out for friends. I don't think it was common knowledge who the owner was, but it makes sense that he posted here because within an hour of me posting my Oron / CCbill thread, my IP was blocked from Oron's site.

Someone asked who owned Oron in one of the CCBill threads I think it was, over the past couple of weeks. I got curious, did some checks with some others on here and got the info fairly easily.

So what's the theory? Oron was able to call up Theo and get your IP so they could block it?

I don't know why he'd even bother... it's not like we don't all have access to anonymous proxies.

No theory other than they were able to get my non-DMCA sending IP address within an hour of me posting that thread. I'm sure someone with a little programming know-how can pull IPs from posts? That thread was posted here and Xbiz. They got it from one of those boards.

I think they'd have to have some special relationship with the board administrators. Unless they're using some vBulletin exploit...

Either way it seems like a real breach of privacy for a 3rd party to disclose IP's. Especially shady making that disclosure to a company who's sole purpose is to commit crime.

Neh, been said many times before - he lives in Germany. Usual "director" crap with mailbox address.

I've been told that by a few people now. I didn't really stress over it, Oron has blocked a lot of my IPs in the past after sending them shit loads of DMCAs. I just chalked it up to just another shitty day in the business.

However, the GFY/AVN - Uploading.com connection made me think about it for a bit at first. Figured file locker guys talk to each other just as we do. But Theo claims the owner is just a guy from a corporation formation service who was used by both companies, so who knows? But I do know when people are trying to hide who they are and use services like that, it's usually for a reason.

I just answered this, put an image hosted on your server in your sig or in a post, check your logs it will have the IP address of every poster. no need for exploits.

I have no reasons to doubt that what you say is true. Like I said, I think you often bring valid points to the table.

Ditto.

I don't care about the he said she said nonsense. But I'm damn happy this guy is going to either lose a lot of money or lose his site. Either way, he loses. That makes me happy.

You're right. Had to think about that for a minute. I bet they put a block on a few people trying to pinpoint DWB.

My IP is banned, yours and I remember Konrad's was too, my guess is they banned IPs with the most hits and those they could cross reference by country.
