Going to Nudes a Poppin What resolution to set my Camera too?

I'm going to Nudes a Poppin tomorrow and plan to test out my new Canon dslr.

Not sure what setting to use the camera on.
The quality setting for
L is 4272x2848
M is 3088x2056
S1 is 2256x1504
S2 is 1920x1280
I was thinking I should use M or S1 setting for picture size.
Any suggestions?

I have not been to that event in over 10 years. Good to hear it's still happening.

The resolution you would shoot in would really depend on what you want to do with the images. If they are just for personal pics, S2 should be fine.

No, seriously...use the smaller sized settings so you get the worst size possible, so that you can do the LEAST with the content later.
;-)

OK, OK...depending upon what size cards you have to capture the pics on, so you don't run out of space...use the biggest size possible! See on your camera how many pics that will allow for you to take, and see if that is enough.
It'd suck to be way back in there by the pool and run out of card space...

Always shoot the largest possible and edit down form there. You can always edit smaller for your needs, but never edit larger.

Oh! And have lots of fun

The salesman also sold me a 55-250mm stabilized lens.
I don't know if I should use that or the standard 18-55 lens.

RAW on the camera says I can take. 1548 pictures on my card.
That should be way more than enough.
Or 5,728 on "L"

Chances are you'll never take 1548 shots at a single event...so I'd go with RAW - it'll give you a lot more control later in post edit.

As for the lens, I'd take both with you...but chances are you'll only need the 18-55mm unless you plan on shooting a fair distance away from the subject. I use an 18-200mm Nikkor VR on my Nikon so I have the best of both worlds and don't need to waste time swapping lenses.

Take some practice shots before the event...familiarize yourself with the controls on the camera and how it behaves. Until you get comfortable with the camera, I'd suggest shooting in full auto and hope for the best...unless you already know what you're doing with manual settings.

Thanks,
Yeah I don't know shit about this camera.
It's my first DSLR.
I'm just going for the hell of it.
Should be a great time.
I've been before but only had a cheap point and shoot.

One thing I noticed though with RAW is I can't view the pictures on my computer.
Is there software I need to use.
I'm leaning more towards Large or Raw+Large so I can have both.

I just use Photoshop CS4 extended (v11.0) to open and edit RAW.

Apparently Photoscape v3.5 will also handle RAW - its freeware - www.photoscape.org - give that a try.
