There's just so many variables. A 1.5% isn't that bad. Ive seen banners do 0.02% and I've seen banners do 9%. It all depends on how targeted your banner is. You can create a banner that gets an awesome CTR, but it may be blind as hell. Surfer hits the page, and what they clicked isn't necessarily what they see on the landing page. On the other hand, you could create a banner that says "don't Click here unless you want to join this site for $29.99 recurring each month" that may not get many clicks, but the people who click on it, are ready to join
The trick is, finding that mix between Clicks and Conversions. Also depends on the position of the banner, is it above the fold, or below, and how much is costs you per click.

1.5% is really good if you can decently convert people when coming to a paysite. It's a numbers game, and as RebelR points out, CTR is only one variable of the equation.
If you can't be profitable with 1.5% on your banners, I would look into your on-site conversions rather than on CTR.

1.5% is pretty good for a standard, non interesting usual kind of porn banner. Where are you sending them though? A bespoke landing page relevant for the traffic? Are you pre-qualifying them as much as poss with the banner creative? If you want something creative that gets proper CTR, email me. damian AT adultmarketing DOT co DOT uk |
