50 withdrawals from paxum.

would they have hit you with the charges even if you didn't keep a balance in paxum?

On a side note.

Last weekend I started it off with my Paxum card not working for a reason that was beyond me. I had cash in my MC account. It wouldn't work at the grocery store, but I figured it was the particular store I went to so I tried it at an ATM I know works. Denied.

Called... Sorry, its after hours on Friday, call back on Monday, sucker!

Made a trouble ticket... It got squared away for me... and Monday...

Reason for it not working? None given.

Paxum's greatest flaw is that every chargeback initiated costs $40. So theoretically you could have 100 $10 transactions totalling $1000 which would cost you $4000 to charge back. Craziness.

It happens. I remember ePassporte being declined a few times. Certain stores/places it would just never work.

My Paxum account is always empty, my card never more than 20 quid on it.
As soon as I get an email that I've been paid I tranfer the cash to the card and I'm off to the ATM within the hour.

I wanted to address a couple of things that have been brought up in this thread and seem to be points of debate and confusion.

Chargebacks
Overall, chargebacks on the Paxum Mastercard are rare. Typically we only encounter a chargeback every few weeks where clients are required to pay the $40 bank-imposed fee.

Choice Bank has the Chargeback fee in place, NOT Paxum, and this can be confirmed to anyone by simply calling Choice Bank directly. You don't need to 'take our word for it', you can verify for yourself to see that we are telling you the truth about this fee being charged by the bank.

As we all know, there are some people who will abuse the chargeback option and see it as a 'lazy mans' way to get a refund. Many GFYers have personal experiences as program owners or affiliates where unnecessarily processed chargebacks have caused a financial loss, or other problems. Choice Bank prefers to avoid excessive numbers of chargebacks where possible, and that is why there is a procedure in place (by the bank) to encourage clients to seek resolution with the merchant BEFORE requesting a chargeback. The $40 fee is a good way to push the cardholder and the merchant to try to solve the problem first before taking it to the chargeback level, reserving the chargeback feature for those issues when there is a real problem.

Security Of Paxum Mastercard
First I'd like to reaffirm that the issue AdultKing saw with his Paxum Mastercard (cited from a different thread earlier in this thread) was a reporting glitch on the bank side that has since been fixed.

There are a large number of Paxum Mastercards in circulation due to our large number of clients. Those cards are used online, offline and at ATMs worldwide. Unfortunately, as with any type of credit card, there is always a risk that the card information could be stolen or violated in some way; through security issues with a merchant you've purchased from, or through other nefarious methods.

We advise any Paxum client who sees strange charges on their Paxum Mastercard to;

1) Immediately transfer all funds from Paxum Mastercard to Paxum Checking account (this transfer is completed instantly) - with funds removed from your card, it is much harder for additional unauthorized charges to appear, since there would be no available funds to complete any purchases.

2) Contact Paxum directly to notify us of the unauthorized transactions so we can promptly investigate. (The most effective way to contact us is to open a ticket in the Message Center and then call us with the Ticket number to request your issue be looked at with urgency)

Sadly credit card theft is a worldwide problem. It is not something isolated with Paxum. I'm sure if you had a Bank of America credit card that was hacked, stolen, or frauded in some way, that you would not blame Bank of America for the fact your card was stolen, nor would you suggest that Bank of America must have a problem and become panicked. Hopefully our GFY clients can relax a little and see that, though this is not an acceptable situation, Paxum is not responsible for the violation itself, and we are seeking to assist our client as best as possible to recover his funds.

We are very sorry any time any of our clients experience a violation of their Paxum Mastercard, and we assist those clients as quickly and comprehensively as possible to provide the fastest resolution we can. Paxum Mastercard chargebacks are handled directly by Choice bank. We cannot change their procedure and must comply with it, and their imposed fees.

So really what you're saying is that Paxum customers will lose $40 for every fraudulent transaction on their card and there is zero protection for unauthorized transactions under $41 and only 50% protection for an unauthorized transaction of $80.

Payoneer do not slug cardholders with chargeback fees, most institutions don't.

Bank of America won't charge their customers outrageous fees to recover unauthorized charges.

With all due respect Ruth, you've just insulted the intelligence of every customer you have with this naive and self serving post.
