Advice for Doomsday Preppers shopping lists.

As I see the conspiracy theorist telling us of all the rotten things going on. And watched the Doomsday Natters with their hoards. I thought a list of things people will need to survive.

Electricity Generator.
Tanker full of petrol.
Water Purifier.
Heating system that runs of Wood.
Tins of food in the 1,000s
Medical supplies.
Clothing for all seasons.
Tools including knives, axes, ropes and survival gear.
Rifles, shotguns and pistols. Plus a lot of bullets and shells.
A shelter that isn't obvious to see or easy to find.
Gold and silver bars as well.
Goods to trade.

Please add to the list as you see fit.

Oh yeah and your birth certificate... unfortunately that one is hard to obtain. You would need Nic Cage to break into the National Archives because it's hidden behind the Declaration of Independence... oldest goes in the cabinet first.

Or an Abrams tank with fuel and shells. Couple of Artillery Cannons with shells and a rocket launcher or three. Military training is essential and a few similar trained buddies to help

Then steal what you want off the guys who bought the stuff I listed in the previous post. Their shop bought guns will be pretty fucking useless up against what you have.

Good point. Don't go raping girls without a rubber as you loot and pillage.

Add penicillin and antibiotics to my list.

Mock "doomsday" people all you want, but shit happens.

During the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake here in California we went without power for four days. Doesn't sound that bad until you figure out after twenty-four hours you've got no food and no way to cook. You can't go and buy food, because there's no power - meaning no stores.

More recently we had a propane tanker catch fire on a train, and they evacuated nearly the entire town.

Trust me, we have gear ready in the event we need it.

A hurricane can put power out for 15 days. You just deal with it until it passes. I had to come to FL during the last 15 day power outage to survey damage and it wasn't fun but it wasn't the end of the world. Lived out of a hotel and still managed to find food, gas and everything else needed. Was just an inconvenience.

Fuck the generator, your 4 X 4 diesel jeep or SUV IS a generator.

You need:
Multiple Huge Car or boat batteries
Bad ass multi level Inverter
Solar Panels
Windmills
Battery power regulator to disperse & store the solar and wind energy so the batteries don't explode.
Jumper cables
A well or a well drill
Wood burning stove because propane will eventually run out.
Lots of guns & amo
Fishing & hunting equipment
A boat or raft
Gasoline & lots of extra 5 gallon gas tanks if you have to leave in an emergency or in a hurry.
Tons of corn seeds and the knowledge of how to make fuel out of corn oil for the diesel engine
Seeds of all varieties of fruits & vegetables.
soap.
Matches
Canned & dry food with little to no expiration date.
Shovels, axes, saws, tools & nails & screws.
A cell phone so you can find out if/when the grid turns back on.
A Laptop computer with satellite capabilities
A small portable satellite
Medical supplies
Prayer.

Oh... and at least 2 big guard dogs unfixed male and female.

Small farm animals - good idea. I have chain link fences & razor wire and everything else on my list except for 1 item. Why no roosters?

If you were in it for the long haul would razor wire last long enough?

Noise is good... especially at night - alerts the dogs which attack first ask no questions and alert me.

What's wrong with razor wire? Does it deteriorate? I have a solar powered electric fence as well with multiple grounds.

This is a little bit different than Florida. For a hurricane, you know it's coming, you can prepare for it, stock up, evacuate. With the earthquake we had zero prep time and zero warning. You went on a camping trip, fully prepared and stayed in hotels.

We got by - We cooked up any food that would go bad on the BBQ, and I worked in a restaurant nearby so I was able to get canned goods. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying it took me by surprise.

The same with the propane fire. People had fifteen minutes warning they had to leave their houses "until further notice". And don't say "We couldn't have a propane fire here because we don't have propane". In our case we have a train running through our town and it delivers propane to a "propane farm" where they store it. But all towns have natural gas, oil storage containers, etc - So it can happen anywhere.

I'm just saying be prepared.

A teleporter to instantly transport you to your shelter because if the shit has hit the fan so badly you need to bunker up, I would guess the odds are you will never make it to your bunker.

On a more realistic note, as Rochard said, shit does happen. You are likely better off just investing in enough canned/dried food and water for a few days so in the event the power goes out you have something to live on.

none of you guys get it. this is what you will need. Or the guys with them will come and steal what you have. Anyone who thinks the guns he bought at the local shop is an idiot and will soon die out.

A standard trained sniper can take you out at 1,000 metres, an elite one at 1,500 meters. As you stand there with your shop goods shotgun, you won't hear the shot that kills you.

Or the house next to you, stood our and they shelled, you have two options. Lay down your arms or be the next house to be shelled.

Of course if you own an Apache helicopter and can flu it. You can take out the idiots in the tanks.

Some of you guys think it will be al sweetness between people.

Go back to the times of the settlers fighting the Indians. The Wild West days, ranch wars, etc. For a better idea of what it will be like. Dog eat dog, with no Government to save your asses.

We had no power for 10 days about 4 years ago, big storm that cause widespread flooding.

There was no problem with food or going to the store. The most notable problem for me was no hot water.

Did not need any dooms day bullshit, just needed to plan ahead.

Something like an Earthquake, flood, hurricane, tornado, big freeze in winter, etc. Isn't Doomsday. Planning for that, if you live in an area prone for these natural disasters, is common sense. But in no way Doomsday as the Government will move all they can to save you, unless you're very poor like in New Orleans.

I am already off the grid. Chickens sleep at night and I want as much advanced notice that someone is coming as possible. Right now my dogs can hear someone coming from about 3/4 of a mile away WITH my generator going. The guy who built my electric fence can't even get over it.

More notably... Paul Markham just quoted HIMSELF!!! What a whack job!
