I read an interesting article recently, where studies have shown a direct link to peoples beliefs in god, ghosts, UFOS - And voting.

They say certain people vote and make decisions based on emotion - so the idea of ghosts to these peoples some how causes an emotional reaction, and thats how they make a decision on it, not on facts.

Where as on the other side of the coin, some people make a decision based on fact. They take all of the presented evidence, and make a decision based on that.

Its something to do with using the left and right side of the brain to make decisions, im too lazy to look it up.

There is a famous saying - The most likely explanation is usually the correct one.

You need to find a peer reviewed, published paper. (That means an academic has written it, has sent all the research to other academics to check and then a proper journal has published it).

And that last video, which has government funding to do research, has no evidence? (Except for all the scientists doing tests on it - but i bet they are nut jobs too)

I think thats the main problem with research into subjects like these - Even if people show a video or picture - Nup its fake. And they are all nut jobs.

Anyhow i wont spend any more time on this, to prove the existence of ghosts is a futile task, even more so on GFY - need to go get some work done

Yes, paranormal situations exist. It can be ghosts, energy fields and many other types of "encounters". After all, everything is simply energy, from the human body to the "radio waves" in the air, to the grass in the ground. It's all energy. And the one constant with energy is that it has no beginning and no end. So why would "residue" of energy from something dead/gone be so outlandish to accept?

If you want this to stop, have an honest and forceful "conversation" with the ghosts/spirits/entities in your place. Ask them to leave. But first, you have to stop trying to debunk and ignore their existence. They are obviously trying to get your attention, and the more you deny them the attention, the more they will act up.

No disrespect taken - it's a fair question and one I wrestle with myself at times.

All I can say is believing in this stuff, even after seeing a lot of weird, unexplainable things happen...goes against my inherent atheism and the educated, logical side of me that says there's no such thing as the supernatural, paranormal, afterlife...or whatever the term may be.

I'm stuck without an explanation either way. As I said earlier, I merely started this thread mentioning some of the factual things that have happened and asked if others had similiar experiences in one way or another.

But I guess I should've expected the harsh judgement and accusatory replies. Stuff like this tends to bring out the emotional responses in people. That's fine.
