It's snowing here. Today. Oct 4th 2012. SNOW

Of course it's melting as it hits the ground, but still.

I was out doing a few errands just six days ago in a t-shirt and had the a/c on in the car, because it was hot and sunny.

Now this.

SNOW.

Canadian Farmer's Almanac says this:
For the winter of 2011?12, the Canadian Farmers? Almanac is forecasting unusually cold and stormy weather. For some parts of the country that means a frigid climate; while for others, it?s lots of rain and snow.

This will be a winter of ?clime and punishment.? We are forecasting the upcoming winter will be cold to very cold, from Alberta east across Saskatchewan and Manitoba into western Ontario. Meanwhile, we predict temperatures will average above normal for much of Nova Scotia and, possibly, southern New Brunswick. Near-normal temperatures are expected elsewhere. A very active storm track will bring copious precipitation through the Great Lakes into central and eastern Ontario, Quebec, and much of the Maritimes. Another active storm track over the Pacific Ocean will guide systems into southern and central British Columbia and western Alberta, giving them a wetter-than-normal winter.

For most of the U.S. they're saying average to mild temps but super wet.

I may have to go south this winter for a few months. :D

Fortunately, the new 2013 Canadian Farmers? Almanac hits store shelves this month and promises on its cover to answer whether or not the warm, dry trend will continue, or if winter will stage a comeback.

According to this favored long-range weather publication, winter will return to some ? but not all ? areas.
It will be a ?winter of contraries? shares editor Peter Geiger, Philom, adding, ?It?s like Old Man Winter is cutting the country in half. The eastern half of Canada will see plenty of cold and snow. The western half will experience relatively warm and dry conditions.?

According to the Canadian Farmers? Almanac, areas from Alberta and Saskatchewan east into the Maritimes will see a colder than normal winter with many locations experiencing above normal precipitation.

But for British Columbia ? chiefly those areas west and south of the Rocky Mountains ? the overall winter will be milder and drier than normal.

Yeah, winter will be starting here in the next month or two as well. I'm going to have to bare down for those frigid night time lows of +18C.

Not sure how I'll cope.

They were talking on the radio this morning that some parts of Alberta were facing a snow storm warning with 10-30cm (that's 4-12 inches for all of our friends still on the imperial system) Luckily in Ontario its still in the high teens low 20's. Not looking forward to winter.

Ah, so I was looking at last year's. Well no matter, they're still calling for it to be very cold with lots of snow here, so nothing much changes. Last winter had just a few really cold snaps but not a lot of snow, so it was a pretty easy winter for your average Winnipegger. We're due for a bad one though, so no surprise it's being predicted.

Guess it's time to get the snow-clearing devices ready.

global warming isn't the correct term, it's climate change.
If the media would call it climate change, it would be easier to understand for people who hear 'global warming' and think it means the sun will shine more and it will be hotter more often. Which is bullshit of course.
Global warming / climate change is about extreme weather changes, and snow in october fits right in there if you ask me. But the retards think 'its not hotter so its not global warming'!
Waether in NL becomes more weird by the year, alot of fucking rain in the summer, and when there are no clouds the temperature rises in 1 day to tropical unbearable temps.
Weather prediction for this winter is that it's gonna be extremely cold, so that's nice to know. It's all fucked up.

Climate change is a redundant term because there is no such thing as a static climate.

You think snow in October in Canada is an example of extreme weather changes? There is an old saying here - "there are 2 seasons in Canada: winter and July". There have been years with snow in June and 20 degrees in January. Snow in October is not shocking at all.

Where I sit right now used to be covered in ice 2 km thick. Now it isn't. One day it will be again. Now that is climate change.

Last winter here in upstate New York was the mildest in a long time with a fraction of the snowfall. I'm hoping for a repeat performance.
