Have to admit I wouldn't know - Never been that close to a gun.

I hate them.

Fuck that. His pumpkin looks retarded.

I'll be impressed if he can shoot a carving like this:

I hear a lot of people say they like the 1911 as their choice "go to" handgun. For those of you who know handguns - Is the 1911 an all around great gun? I know there are so many factors that determine what could make a gun great.. just wondering why the 1911 is so popular?

It's impact is so great that even a hit in an extremity can be devastating. Stopping power is all about kinetic energy and the .45 is a man stopper.

Simplicity of design, durability, stopping power, reliability (although I would only say that using quality rounds), ergonomics.

Like a hammer or a rake, it is a tool that just defines a functionality that doesn't really leave much room for improvement, just a bit of refinement.

Hickok45 is quite a shot. Check out his other videos. He's highly regarded in the firearms community and quite entertaining.

Stopping power. .45 ACP is not an anemic round like the 9mm

While most 1911's are actually 1911-A1's, I carried a straight 1911 (World War I vintage) for a number of years, but damn, that's a big, heavy sidearm to carry concealed.
