What are the best headphones?

What's the best?
For travelling, or just chilling at home.

Personally, I love the Logitech H800 USB Connector Supra-aural Wireless Headset. It will switch from my phone to my laptop, (for skype or music), with just a little switch at the back, works for a pretty good distance away, and is USB rechargable. I can be listening to tunes, switch to take a call, then switch to skype, etc.... Very handy and sounds pretty damn good. Mute, volume, etc, right on the headset also.

Obviously there are much better headsets for purely music listening purposes, but I don't get to listen to music all day, and these are just really useful.

I use Bose QC15

A little expensive, but with the noise cancelling technology, your music comes through clearer than ever and you'll hear things you didnt know were there before.

active noise cancellation headphones are great for airplanes. But unless you have white noise in your house, you're mental for thinking they sound good under normal listening conditions.

They wont stop the annoying bass from your ghetto neighbors, but in my neighborhood I dont have that problem. It makes everything go dead silent and the music is the clearest ever.

You've obviously not tried it at home, or you'd know better. Even when I was flying my own plane which had a single-prop engine, it reduced the noise level by about 80%, and that is clearly not white-noise like in a passenger jet.

unless u live near a construction site decent in ear buds pretty much eliminate outside noise anyway. i have some shure se530 ones ... they sound wicked and never have problems with outside sound

(to be fair though on thigns like planes they are probably pretty good)

sennheiser is good stuff indeed, but unless you are professional, $1500 is a bit much I think...

The high end ones are worth it -- and they hold their value. I had a pair of HD600's for like a decade. I recently switched to AKG K701's and sold my HD 600's on Ebay for like $250.

After auditioning about 15 different headphones I bought Bose Quiet Comfort 15

http://www.bose.ca/controller?DTCLin...VENT&src=k1638

Just amazing. They aren't too big, have a mic for Skype, and sound just freakin' amazing. They also have active noise cancelation (built-in stereo microphones take outside noise and invert it to cancel it out).

To test them out yourself, check out an Apple store. Futureshop and Best buy probably have them too but at Apple they have them connected to ipods, and they let you plug in your own too for a proper listen.

I own the bose QC, and think they sound like ass compared to the B&Ws.

As I said, good for a plane, but that's about it.

I think if ANC headphones were good, they'd use them in studios. But they don't.

End of a review of hi end ANC headphones on a audio site:

"Bottom line: I'd stay away from noise canceling headphones if possible. But if you're a regular plane or train commuter, or find yourself regularly in loud environments needing peace and quiet and don't want in-ear headphones stuck in your ear canals, noise cancelers are probably the way to go."

But at the end of the day, everyone's ears are different and if you like them, then great. I'll use them on a flight, but use my B&Ws the rest of the time.

For earbuds, I've never heard anything as good as my Klipsch buds. As far as headphones go, you can't go wrong with Sennheiser as Milo mentioned. While they have some expensive models, you can also get away with not spending too much cash, and still have terrific sound.

I always see people walking around the with those "Beats by Dr Dre" $300 headphones. But I think mostly they want to be seen wearing "Beats by Dr Dre" headphones.

I see those idiots everywhere. I have a pair of the "studio" series, but I only use them while
actually IN the studio or arranging music. Those things are too hot and heavy to be trying to wear them like a new necklace or some dumb shit.

If are you buying expensive headphones say Sennheiser like the HD800's listed earlier you should research AMPs and DACS because plugging those directly into your sound card is EPIC fail.
