Update on 8 million stolen CC #'s..? AMEX too..

there was just a blurb on the local news about the recently reported huge amount of stolen creditcard numbers from some unnamed processor... as before, they did not disclose the processor in question that was so royally hacked, but this time they *did* mention that the stolen CC #'s in question included VISA, MasterCard, and *AMEX* accounts... now, shouldn't this rule out processors that don't even process AMEX, like ccBill? do any of the large ISPS deal w/ AMEX at all..? iBill maybe? dunno, but this was the first time i'd ever heard AMEX cards being mentioned in the lot of stolen accounts, point of interest..

looks like adult only processors would be ruled out.

Just like after 9/11 in NYC there was 7000 people saying they lost their car or husband just to collect money

People are calling their credit card companies now saying OMG that $2000 charge, I never made it must be the hackers

this is why all transactions need to be processed at one place. some companies will cut corners with security and then shit like this happens.

AFAIK Ibill processes amex for their 'mainstream' clients. Not sure about CCbill.

But those numbers (millions of credit cards) suggest that it was an adult processor.

EIther that or a big gateway processor like Authorize.net

You just can't get those numbers without being Huuuuuuge.

Whoever they are theyare big enough to be paying some decent money to keep it hush hush

yeah, i'm real surprised noone is saying who/what organization this happened to, you'd think the press would have a field day if this had a connection to a processor who's main focus is pornography, more fuel for the anti-porn brigade... maybe this means its not adult related at all, considering the silence..?
