Unless I am very wrong, there are 101 countries who have averages per 100,000 worse than USA, and 103 countries who have better.

So USA is not even in the top half by that metric, and is roughly the median of the countries listed.

Nothing to be proud of, but not awful.

The govt. should answer to the citizens. Not the other way around. But unfortunately it doesn't work that way.
