You have to put the same speed - if you go higher it may work or it may not but regardless of speed, the processor will slow the speed down to whatever it is (1067MHz) so it serves no purpose.

I guess you're right.

So the plan would be to install 8GB RAM first and then a 128GB SSD.

I have an Asus K501J laptop I got for $50 and it's got the 2.x core2duo with 4gb ram.. With an SSD in there the thing runs fast as hell. More ram is always better too of course

I upgraded from 4gb to 8gb about a year ago and it was a huge improvement. When it slowed again I upgraded to a 500GB SSD from Crucial. The speed improvement is amazing and worth every cent!
