Yea, reduce your alcohol intake instead. Make every other drink something that looks like your regular drink but is alcohol free. Once you have a buzz maintain it but don't overdue it.

Vodka tonic, then just tonic.

More often these days I have been taking my car when I go out, I will have 2 beers over the course of a 5-6 hour night then just drink water with a lime wedge, most people won't know you're not drinking. A night out isn't dependent on alcohol to determine how good it is, it's about the company you keep.
