I had surgery for hernia in college. 3 small incisions below the belly button. Had to take it easy for a while otherwise recovery as I recall wasn't that bad. It was 16 or so years ago though, it's been a while.

it's day surgery. i had it done when i was a kid and back then you stayed in the hospital a few days.

you should have it done but there's no big rush unless it's really bothering you.

My son had to have one around age 2. In and out of the hospital in 4 hours then some bed rest for the rest of the day. He was up and at em by the next morning. Hardest part was breaking his heart about not being able to move around for a few days to let things heal. As far as he was concerned he wanted to run around the house and wrestle his siblings.

Some things to keep in mind. If you only experience discomfort after blowing your load hard you might want to wait depending on how old you are. There is a decent chance you will feel problems due to scar tissue. So if it is not a big deal if you aren't fucking for four hours before having this problem you might want to quit fucking so long.

Operation itself is not a big deal.

Go the "old school" route: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inguinal_hernia_surgery If you go macro. in the future if it were to recur it would severely inhibit the ability to fix it. My doctor at Cedars-Sinai fixed mine. ...can't believe I'm posting this on GFY.

did they put some kind of mesh in? can you feel it in there? I'm not sure what you meant by "macro"

I had the surgery done about 3 or 4 years ago. I was up and about a couple hours post surgery. No mesh, 1. I didnt want it in my body, and 2. I was young enough to fully recover without the use of it so my dr. opted not to use it as well. Ive been fine since, back to deadlifting 500+lbs. Recovery took about 2 weeks, i started to lift 6 weeks after. The worst pain believe it or not is when you try to sit up in bed, cough, or pee. Got forbid you sneeze...thats the worst, i literally blew a staple out of the incision by sneezing. Other than that just relax and take it easy, youll recover quickly

I had one when I was about 25, it took a few days to stop hurting and I was in the hospital overnight. 10 years later I had it again, and this time the procedure was much more advanced, I was out in a couple of hours, and no big deal. The second time they put in the mesh. Your muscles grow in around it, and you can't feel anything. 15 years later there is still no issue at all, and I run 3 to 6 miles a day, and lift 4 times a week so if there was going to be a problem, it would have shown up!

I have a menial inguinal hernia right now, found out the day after I got back from the Vegas show in January, my doctor says to avoid the surgery if at all possible. I've been doing some research and the interwebs says the same thing, that a large percentage of males who have it surgically corrected experience chronic pain afterwards.

I think it all depends on the severity of the situation, as to whether or not you should perform the surgery. I have it, but no need to do it just yet. I've had a few close calls where the intestine was almost being strangled by the opening (hernia), but thank god they weren't.

If you have no option, and your hernia just gets worse over time, just do it....it's not that bad based on other people's experiences I know of.
