I7-3770 vs. Xeon E3-1240
I'm loving this I5-3570k after being subjected to an AMD cpu for awhile, but I want something with more power... Too many choices, though
What is the difference in xeon these days? They have the same cache, now. It use to be they were better because of having more cache.. I think they actually had big L1 caches.... now they all seem to have small L2 caches and big L3 caches I've read before that having too much cache is bad sometimes.. but I don't think that's an issue on these newer processors, right? Why would the ivy cpus have less cache than a sandy bridge cpu?? Three choices Xeon Ivy bridge I7 Ivy bridge (8mb cache) I7 Sandy bridge (10mb cache) (All three support HT, I think) I really don't care about TDW or overclocking, but I guess an unlocked multiplier would be nice |

Not the E3-1240 but the E3-1240v2
Apparently the only difference is that the xeon has "intel fast memory access" and no onboard video (which I don't really want this time) |

Never mind. I'm going with the I7-3770k because the xeon boards cost too god damned much and nothing I have seen makes me believe that xeon will be any faster
So fuck it.. Although I am curious to know if the sandy 10mb chip would be faster than the ivy 8mb chip If anyone knows of an inexpensive board that will take two or four I7 cpus, that'd be great Even if it's 200-300 it'd be worth it |

What the hell are you doing at home that would require four I7s?
I'm pretty sure you have to go with Xeon for a multiprocessor system.
