Storing Video Footage???
How do you normally store your video footage?
For photos I have been uploading to online storage, but for video it just takes way too long to upload...and too much space is needed. What do guys do? Any other options besides burning to dvd and external drives? Can the files be compressed smaller? thanks |

Really good question to which there is not a really good answer, we have are video backed up on three hard drives and some optical discs, but all do fail.
A good long lasting safe large not expensive back up medium is needed |

I did google video compression, and if you make the files smaller you trade off the quality of the videos.
At least with photos you can also print out a hard copy. It has become a choir and half just backing up and transferring files for my 14 month old, what the hell am I going to do for the next 20 years of video and photos of my kid.  |

I use external drives 3 back ups one stored offsite, you are correct that online is unreasonable and BD is never going to last as long as even a decent quality External drive....and if you use dual layer BD...forget it they are almost worthless

This is kind of a neglected need for most people nowadays, I wonder if any technology firms are coming up with something that shrinks the size without loosing any quality.
Technology makes us crazy, my parents have photos that are 70 years old and never think about something ever happening to them. |
