Going From shared to vps?

So I have about 5 shared hosting accounts and I've been thinking why do I need 5 separate accounts shared?

Would it be better to get on a VPS and run the network that way? If so, would there be good or bad seo implications of making the adjustments?

Any recommendations as to what to do?

It sounds like you have five several virtual accounts at five different web hosting companies for search engine purposes. If you stick with that theory, how would you accomplish the same thing with one VPS?

It might depend on what other sites are on your IP.

We have many many clients running just fine on VPS plans that "thought" it would hurt them or negatively impact SEO... They have learned different, lol. 10-15 years ago sure it would hurt but not today.

I don't do any seo at all. Maybe a link here or there but no crazy stuff. I went the 4 shared bc they were cheap. Total cost is about $100 a month.

Thanks. I don't even know seo so it doesn't much matter I guess. I just dont want to piss off the SEs from the minimum traffic I get now but thought it was easier to manage on one if I just bought many ips on one VPS. Thoughts?

My thoughts exactly. Could run some media buying scripts that would kill a shared in minutes I'm thinking.

some shared hosts don't overload as I use to host and kept shit lightly loaded so it is possible to see similar performance from shared and vps, most though do pack accounts on and will notice if ya start putting a load on the server and boot ya or tell ya to upgrade to a vps

for that price (or slightly more) you could get a dedicated server.

BTW having multiple websites on the same account and same IP is fine, you only run into problems when you attempt to "boost your pagerank" or play games with linking or other SEO factors. If you're not doing things like that, then nothing to worry about.

I run a dedicated unmanaged server for $50 a month. I've got a bandwidth cap at 3TB/month though.

It depends on what you're running on it too, whether your doing a lot of streaming (bandwidth intensive) or video converting (CPU Intensive). VPS's don't generally have great CPU performance so take that into account also.
