Americans, help me understand this!

I love the US. I want to go to the US soon to explore the country.

I just can't understand why your government easily accept people from extreme places, where they are fanatic with their religion and gods, and make it hard to all latin americans get a visa.

Brazilians at least are peaceful, we don't kill anyone in the name of any god.

Maybe it's time for a change.

I prefer poor but cool, than rich but insane.

Seems to be working pretty good for us so far.

We are the melting pot. We accept everyone and eventually assimilate them. You know, just like the Borg.

And we already have a bigger 'Latin American' population than virtually every Latin American country

i've never understood the "wet foot-dry foot" law that was initiated for cubans....really, if they touch our soil, they can stay? but mexicans can't......it's just weird.

Brazil and the USA have a childish immigration battle going on. It has been going on for years. America makes it really hard for Brazilians to enter, and in return, and they will tell you to your face at the Brazilian embassy, Brazil makes it difficult for long term visas in Brazil.

Almost every nation has reciprocating policies with other nations

We block people from those extremist nations and the cost of our oil goes up. Give us something as good or better than oil to power our hungry nation and we?ll be happy to let you in.

Mine the moon is the next step to riches.

That's a shame. Brazil is a closed country. Non-popular currency and language, shit laws, thief politicians. The fact of the matter is that 95% of all visas request were approved in 2012. I didn't know that. I just found this info today.

I know that the US have tons of illegal immigrants. I really don't get the point where's the funny living like a perpetrator, hiding from your own shadow, afraid of everything.

I don't think it's worth to live like that. I would love to live in the US, but only if I had the condition to do it legally.

Look what I just found:

Green Card through Investment

Quote:
The EB-5, Green Card through investment, was created to promote investments in businesses and to create and preserve jobs in the U.S.

You can become a lawful permanent resident by establishing a new commercial enterprise and provide full-time employment to at least ten U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, or other immigrants with employment authorization.
I just have to invest at least $500,000.

I liked that. Anyone with enough money can be a US citizen!

No shit, but the USA and Brazil have some silly quarrel going on over it. It's been going on for a while. Walk into any Brazilian consulate or Embassy and ask them about it, they will tell you straight to your face they make it hard to get a visa there because of how hard the USA makes it for their citizens.

The 5 year visa is the more difficult one to get. The one year is fairly easy, but depending on what office you go to, some of them make it difficult for no other reason than that is what the USA does to them.

I'm with you. I have a young daughter with a Colombian national. I registered my daughter with the US Embassy in Bogota shortly after her birth and she has a US passport. For her 4th birthday, I wanted to take both my daughter and her mother to DisneyWorld. We applied for a tourist visa for the child's mother. REJECTED! Appealed. DENIED! I have a couple of contacts at the Embassy. I assured them that I would personally put the child's mother on the return flight to Colombia. I'm 49 years old - the last thing I want is to live with my daughter's 25 year-old mother. No dice. My take on visas to the US - learn how to game the system like the Russians have with their fake marriages or be denied a visa over and over again.

On the other hand, I did read recently that the US is seriously considering waiving the visa requirement for Brazilians and Indians. I can't find the article, but here's a similar one. Visa approval for Brazilians is pretty good @ 96%.

The very worst part about this is the TONS of cash the Brazilians are trying to dump into the US.
