I said this over and over, tumblr is a good tool to build a quick network of blogs and make money, without investing a cent, BUT if you use it to promote affiliate programs, they will take down your site soon or late.

I used to have a big blog with lots of traffic and sales some time ago, and suddenly, they deleted it overnight because I was promoting sponsors and doing money.

The day they deleted it, I contacted support and they said that it was deleted because I was promoting adult affiliate programs. However, digging more into it, the problem was not "adult", the problem for them was that I was doing money with it.

Right now, I can only use tumblr for my link building campaigns in SeNuke, to my Money Site. I treat tumblr as a Social Bookmark site in SeNuke. Don't expect to put a tumblr full of affiliate codes like refer.ccbill.com, have 1000 followers, and try to last long. That is not going to work. So far so good, using it only as a feeder site, and nothing else.

Actually I don't really see what you are saying. Every relationship is a give and take. If I set up a Tumblr like service I'd gladly accept affiliates posting their content because again, they are adding value. I won't want anyone to link to sites with pop-ups and ads galore but to link to the money site that has a continuity of the posted tumblr content where my users ENJOY the blog being made - especially again that it is not my content is favorable to me.

How the fuck do you get tumblr blog to get indexed in google?

It seems that NSFW tumblr blogs are prevented from being indexed. Does support manually approve them for indexing after some time? Or does it happen automatically?

I agree that that is the problem. I can understand in-your-face spam but a well made blog with content that links to a page with mostly content and few ads doesn't make much sense to me but hey, it's their service and they can do what they want and feel like they are getting rid of the trash (us) .... but them hosting lots of stolen images is just fine.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, Tumblr officially categorizes two tiers of adult content: "NSFW" and "Adult".

"NSFW" blogs are more your nudity/softcore-mixed-with-nonadult-content, "Adult" ones are straight-up porn. If your blog is flagged only as "NSFW" then Google should index it without any problem, at least that's been my experience.

And you'd have a site full of spam, with zero visitors, because nobody likes spam and advertising.

I'll just pose the same question I asked deltav:

Would you make a Tumblr blog if you were not trying to make money from it? If the answer is "no" then your interest in adding value to Tumblr is zero, so quit trying to kid yourself that is what you are doing. You're polluting their site with spam, like everyone else here who makes blogs there.

So you would have rules too, like Tumblr, just slightly different rules. And if someone came to this board complaining about your hypothetical site, saying "Waaaaaaaaa! They deleted my blog just because I had popups and ads galore", what would you say to them?

I have to disagree.

I don't see spam as an absolute like you seem to. People liked my blog. People liked some of the other responders to this thread's blogs. So yes, I would have visitors if I was to make a tumblr service the way I wanted to.

To answer your question of course I wouldn't make a blog on there if I couldn't profit from it. But so what? I profit and they profit. Everyone wins.

If you are going to do tumblr you just need to do in bulk and constantly keep adding new ones So when you lose one it does not matter really

Look for some tumblr management software that keeps track of all your accounts and abuse the

[email protected] system to easily make accounts

For those that don't know this...

YourName @ gmail.com is the same as
Your.Name @ gmail.com is the same as
Y.ourName @ gmail.com is the same as
You.rName @ gmail.com

You can make a shitload of account in this way. I highly suggest doing so!

ALSO!

Create many different accounts. Then water mark everything with your site URLs. Then upload the stuff via one account. Follow that account with another and repost it... Then it goes out into the blogosphere. And the feeder account gets closed. Not your 10,000 follower account. Always use your main accounts to repost only. Never put new stuff into the system on them or they will get closed if you fuck up once.

Yes ... their ban hammer (and Reddit's) has a knee-jerk reaction to watermarks too.

Good method but about the Gmail trick what do you think will happen once they catch on to it? Answer: They will probably mass ban thousands of accounts using the trick. It's better not to take shortcuts like that.

With all due respect, it's stuff like this that makes Tumblr/Reddit/etc react in knee jerk fashion when they even get a whiff of spam.

Rather than send a stream of kamikaze spammy blogs into their system, why not experiment with how to make an actual quality one using their format - intersperse other material along with your promo stuff, or some interesting text stuff or links, give it some personality.

I think that Tumblr-Reddit bring that onto themselves. To make a blog like you described above with 'personality' takes some time and effort which we are willing to put forth under normal circumstances, but with them being so trigger happy for any little reason we know that in the end our work will probably be deleted. So doing the 1000 spammy blogs is much better in terms of return on investment of our time.

It's not just you. Something is up somewhere with how they are handling new blogs. Yahoo pricks.

That is what I do with 10,000 followers...

As for them figuring out the gmail trick and mass banning accounts, that is why you use this trick with spammy accounts and not with your main ones.

You can also register a domain, then make it capture all. Then name them after the subdomain you create.

My newest one has been flagged as adult and is not showing up in tag searches.

Shame because I'm posting some of the best content in that niche, and surfers are being prevented from seeing it.

You can expect that going forward from what I see. If it's adult or often has nudity you're going to get tagged NSFW and you'll get reduced visibility. The only way around it is to keep spamming like mad or to not show nudity.

What I worry about is what happens when they get sick of the 10,000 new blogs a day the blackhats are starting.

its not made for you to turn profit on, adding free porn pics does not add anything to their ecosystem, if people just wanted gobs of free porn they can go to the tubes.

its not really a surprise at all they are killing these types of accounts, after all, they are in fact SPAM from the ground up. you are only there to try and turn a profit, not to add to their website like real regular users are. how hard is that to comprehend? writing posts of original content with no other purpose then to generate profit, is still spamming.

Most of what Tumblr has is stolen content or at the very least content posted without permission. The 'regular users' as you put it do all that plus enjoy what we marketers provide.

And yes we do it for profit. But Tumblr profits from our efforts too.

its not really a surprise at all they are killing these types of accounts, after all, they are in fact SPAM from the ground up. you are only there to try and turn a profit, not to add to their website like real regular users are. how hard is that to comprehend? writing posts of original content with no other purpose then to generate profit, is still spamming.
This is true for the majority but not everyone using it is just putting up unoriginal porn pics and trying to make a dime from it. You have some people who own the content or are otherwise the content creators putting up original content.

People using Tumblr seem to be more looking for pictures and often higher quality stuff with an interesting spin to it. So just going to the tubes doesn't really cut it for some of these visitors and it isn't the same.

A nice Tumblr is like a nice blog. The real value provided is in the discretion/editorial skills of the blogger. Very different from a splog.

Yeah I think maybe not showing nudity might be the way to go. I see that my old Blogger blogs are still online despite being full of affilate links, probably because I kept them softcore and nonnude. I've also noticed some sponsors "toning down" the images that they post on Tumblr.

I just saw this thread and if anyone wants, I have created a service that you can add your tumblr blogs to and it'll keep track of them and flag the ones that have been deleted for you.

http://www.mftscripts.com/tools/servmonitr

Any other tools you guys would like, go ahead and let me know and I'll build stuff.

I just don't think it's true to flatly state that everything that's free adds value, and everything that isn't free adds no value at all.

In the niche I'm promoting, mosst of the "free" content is crappy amateur pics and stupid-looking gifs. If I was a surfer looking for this niche, I would absolutely want to see the content that I'm posting, regardless of whether or not it comes from sponsors. Not all my posts are "paid" content anyway, I do post free content that doesn't link out to anything.

Actually I found that most blogs who simply reblog are usually safe from the ban hammer.
