[SEO]: Best way for content articles on your site - GoFuckYourself.com

I've seen mixed options, but figured I'd ask if anyone had first had experience. We're going to publish a ton of content related to our SaaS product and wondering if its better to do something like blog.website.com or website.com/articles

Obviously the point is to get organic traffic for similar related topics in these "articles" and draw people into our main site.

As well, any suggestion on places to submit articles too, or is that not even worth doing anymore? I've been out of the heavy SEO game for a while now, but still have the basic concepts down pat.

I asked similar a little while back and was told in my research it did not matter much.
