my grandfather used to cross the sava river every winter because it would freeze over every single year when he was young...my mother used to ice skate on the save ariver almost every winter because, when she was a child, it froze over almost every winter...during my life time the river has frozen over only 1 time and it was 38 years ago...that's 3 generations
when I was a kid, my home town had 1.5 meters of snow for about a month and then another month of knee deep snow every year...as a kid I spent almost every winter digging tunnels in the snow that would stay "functional" for weeks...now I'm grown up the snow is a few cm deep for a few days and is gone...once every few years it snows up to the knees for a week and is gone...nothing like before...much shorter and warmer winters... the summers have always been hot...cant say that its much hotter...but the winters have definitively changed...no doubt at all... |

Something about being Republican and denying climate change. What is it about your politics that makes you deny science?

I'll see your 13,950 articles and raise you 30,000 scientists..
http://www.independentsentinel.com/3...limate-change/ I guess you missed the scandal where the IPCC was blackballing any scientist who wrote against "global warming" which BTW is now called "climate change" as you so pointed out. That would be because it is a democratic scheme to raise more tax dollars.

It's like the bible to them. I assume it's because the right has been taken over by the Jesus folk. They are very gulable so it's easy for the right wing lobbyist groups to convince their supporters of dumb things like cow farts cause more pollution than cars.

Humans are destroying the planet.
Big oil and gas pay off politicians and the media to hide the causes, risks, and horrible results that their outdated, greedy, manipulative, unnecessary, shady, and obnoxious business models create. To believe otherwise is idiotic and self-destructive. |

The biggest contradiction in the bible is that god flooded the earth to kill everyone then gave us rainbows as his promise never to kill us again yet everyone is waiting for Jesus to come back to kill us all.

The Vikings use to grow grapes in Iceland a Thousand years ago.
You can't grow grapes there now. You know what changes the climate. The Sun! It goes in cycles. |

There used to live Mammoths on New Siberian Islands in the Arctic seas of northeastern Russia. Guess the earth was warmer before we populated everything. The question is not if there is climate changes or not. The question scientist still debate, is if its manmade or part of the natural changes |

I think it is clear and obvious that the climate is in a warmer trend right now. There is no denying that.
The question is whether or not we humans have affect on that. To me it is pretty simple. If we clean up our act, make a cleaner better environment and reduce the amount of potentially damaging emissions and it turns out we were wrong and it doesn't affect the weather, oh well, at least we still have a cleaner, nicer planet to live on. If we ignore it and we turn out to be wrong the consequences could be great. This doesn't mean I support crazy carbon taxes and scams of that nature, but more an overall effort to make a cleaner, better planet. |

The problem is cleaning up our act is expensive. Carbon taxes as a whole are not a scam. Carbon taxes are theoretically what would pay to clean the earth up.

It won't be cheap no matter which route we take, but the alternative is to do little or nothing and hope we are right and everything will be fine. If we are wrong it could be catastrophic.

there's always been climate change and there's always been volcanoes, floods, hurricanes, blizzards, heat waves.
we're part of nature, so whatever we're doing is part of the blueprint of the Creator. if he/she/it wants most if not all of us off the planet then so it will be. not going to worry about what happens to this planet after i'm done. nobody is going to remember any one of you were ever here 40 years after you die and most people will forget it a week later.

just from what i know about humans. "Homo" has existed for 200,000 years, 50,000 as homo sapiens, 5000 as civilized homo sapiens. all those trillions of people had no tech. but survived ice ages, famines, plagues. so why is there such hand wringing about warming when humans have proved marvelously adaptable to their climates? & for BFT3K. the earth once had 1000 ppm of CO2, no ice at either pole, basically a planetary jungle. but somehow, there were no oil companies & greedy companies 60 million years ago. how did the earth get so hot without them? even worse, the earth cooled to current levels. What happened that made the earth cool? as the answer does not conform with your fetish for hating corporations, im certain you will not bother to look into it. enjoy your sunday evenings. ![]() |

http://content.usatoday.com/communit...1#.Udn_OfmxfjI Personally, I think the pollution we make on this planet is killing us off slowly and that the democrats won't do anything about it. If they did, they would have invested in electric cars everyone could afford, like this one http://www.fiatusa.com/en/2013/500e/ Here's a $17k car that didn't get money like Fisker that puts out a $150k electric car Here's a car that shows just how little thought goes into Obama's green agenda For every Fisker car, we could have 8 cheap electric cars But you guys will still back his blowing money on green energy, the Italians got it right!!!

We likely won't die, at least not all of us, but it could make life on the planet much more difficult and crowded. Yes, we have been around for a long time and we have adapted to the climate, but not until recently have we been pumping tons upon tons of pollutants into the air and water so future climate changes could end up being unlike anything we have seen in the past. |

Current projections predict an average rise in temperature anywhere between 2 - 4 degrees Celsius in the next 50 years, this equates to 35 -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Do you think that simply means better gardens for your kids?

I always wonder about the stats on pollution, carbon, etc.
Do they take into account what the U.S. does and has done militarily? Do Americans driving our cars REALLY pollute more than the military dropping bombs, riding around in 12 gallons per mile tanks, flying jet planes...and oh yeah , doing things like dropping Napalm all over Vietnam and Cambodia during the 1960's and early 70's that completely deforested the entire region and killed millions of people AND animals, insects, plant life, etc., etc. Yeah...the govt. tells the citizens to ride a fucking bicycle and turn the Air Conditioning off at home and sweat like pigs. Meanwhile the U.S. military is spewing carbon all over the world and the politicians AND the "climate change" scientists ride around in big SUV's and limousines and private airplanes to their ice cold office buildings. I'll believe it's man-made when Pres. Obama orders mandatory solar panels for every home and business in the U.S. Could have already done that a couple of times over with all that money that got funneled to Congress's cronies in the "bailout". Hell, I live in Vegas. The entire Mojave Desert is sitting out here in Nevada and California. Why doesn't the govt put solar panels across the whole damn thing? And wind power? The wind blows so hard here every day. Why aren't their hundreds of miles of wind turbines and solar panels here? ANSWER: Because for whatever reasons...the govt. doesn't take this shit seriously. The only people who seem to care are extreme environmentalists, oil companies, green energy companies, and faux liberals on GFY. How am I supposed to think of this as a real threat when the govt. is treating it like a cash cow and not anything real? |

The trouble is that the climate change evangelists push it like it's a religion, and I think that puts people off from investigating the science. For example, David Attenborough believes that climate change is real, but the organization he makes programs for (BBC) had made its mind up a long time previously, and it wasn't on the basis of scientific evidence.
I don't know what it's like in the American media, but the BBC is constantly harping on about climate change, and pushing climate change stories artificially high in the news. It almost seems like a cult at times, an oath that they all swear allegiance to. |

BUT when a hurricane or tornadoes or the recent heat wave we had here in Vegas (which was caused by a high pressure zone that didn't move for a week) happen, THEN local conditions are everything and "proof" that we need to pay a carbon tax to "save" the planet? Again...WHY doesn't the govt. fill the Mojave desert here in Nevada and California with solar panels and wind turbines? Because THEY don't believe it. If they really did, they would take action. Think about it. When a dozen crazies with box cutters hijacked some airplanes 12 years ago...the govt. swung into action! They created the "Patriot Act" to give themselves more power and created "Homeland Security" and the TSA and have spent billions and billions of dollars. Yet...when we are supposedly faced with global extinction? They do...nothing. Money scam is what this screams to my cynical mind. When the U.S. entered WW2 just think about how quickly and massively the U.S. govt. mobilized the country for war. Now when they claim we are ALL going to die? It's business as usual. President isn't riding a bicycle. He's polluting BIG time with his convoy of SUV's, his private jet, his private helicopter. Hell, he just left a carbon footprint bigger than all of us on GFY put together so he could take his family on vacation (at tax payer expense) to Africa. That is NOT taking this "threat" very seriously now is it? If the Pres. really believed it...he would DO something. If Congress really believed...they would DO something. Hell, Harry Reid is my Senator from Nevada. Mr. Democrat/Liberal himself. And that would be money coming into NV for his cronies...and he STILL does: nothing. |
