Webair, wtf???

On June 9 one of my domains expired - I was travelling and couldn't renew it on time.
On June 11 I paid the $61.93 to have it restored.

A couple of weeks later I check, and the status in the Webair control panel is "locked in processing"

I send a support ticket, asking how long it will be locked in processing, and if there was anything else I needed to do.

The next day I get the reply: "I checked the status and your domain is locked in processing"

I breathed deeply, counted to 10, refrained from calling the guy a dipshit and decided to just forget it and wait.

On July 11, I do a whois, and see that the domain's staus is "pending delete"

I send a support ticket, explaining the situation and asking what's up.

I get this reply: "Hello, I'm going to be working on this. If you don't mind me asking, what is your webair account login email, or your customer ID so I can quickly find out what happened with the original requests to renew this domain? Please let me know. Thanks."

I breathed deeply, counted to 10, and refrained from saying "Dipshit, did you try the email address that I filled in on the support form?" I mailed back politely and told him what the email address was.

12 hoiurs ago I did a whois. My domain is unregistered and available.

Sent a support ticket, no response.

Can someone from Webair please respond?

edit: Support ticket #829942

I highly doubt Webair employees are lurking on GFY for customer service reasons.

In my experience with Webair you really have to get in touch with the right people. There are some support guys there who appear to have reading comprehension problems (like you're experiencing, and yeah it can be infuriating) but the are some who're fully competent and will actually go out of their way to help out. AFAIK it's a decent-sized company, so that is going to be par for the course.

There used to be some, yes, and they used to respond here quickly. I've not been on the boards for some years now.

They are good for hosting, I'm not sure about domain registration as I not tried it, but unlike many other hosts they are not a reseller of another registrar but ICANN accredited registrar.
It looks like someone has overlooked your issue. I guess waiting in a case of something urgent like this is never good. If I was you I would contact them earlier by live chat or phone to make sure things get solved.

Most of their support are outsourced 3rd worlders from shithole India and their sole purpose is to answer a ticket with random bullshit just to keep an appearance that someone is actually reading the tickets.

You have to waste a lot of time and jump through many hoops to get to some senior tech.

Actually as far as I know they have no outsourced support, at least not for hosting.
All in-house people.

Mike M is indeed a good person to talk to there. He's helped me out on more than one occasion, basically went above & beyond to resolve a couple issues.

They do have a tech or two who is of Indian or similar descent, but AFAIK they're all based in-house in New York. Where are you getting this "oursourced 3rd worlders from shithole India" nonsense?

I just assumed they were outsourced, because the ones I talked to were dumb as rocks with poor English skills.

Why you asking webair to register domain for you... this is your mistake. You should have control on your domain name and put it on auto renew....

I dont think people use any hosting to register domain for them...

Host with a host and register with a domain registry. Two basic rules of the internet.
